Have You Ever Met a Dog This Unusual?

Ranked #8,105 in Pets & Animals, #204,801 overall

Meet Eko!

Eko is, by far, the most amazing dog I have ever met. Everywhere he goes, people can't help but comment. The day he made it into our lives, we were set on getting a cat. But who could possibly resist a face like Eko's? Now, four years later, we couldn't imagine our lives without Eko.

He is incredibly smart and knows the words treat, outside, walk, and woops. He does really silly things like attacking the pillows when we're out.

He's a little neurotic and barks at just about anything. Once he gets to know you he will shower you with love - sitting on your lap and giving you the treasured Eko head bumps.

Eko's Origins

Eko was part of a large litter of abandoned puppies at the John Ancrum SPCA in North Charleston, SC. We're not sure of his full lineage. But we know that he is mostly border collie just by looking at him.

It is amazing that no one got to him before we did. After all, there were other puppies adopted from the litter before he was. We even left and returned later after thinking it over. Adopting a puppy is a big decision, after all. It just made us know that he was meant for us when we returned and saw his sweet little face.

Eko was a complete nightmare in the beginning - a true test of our marriage. The first night he ended up in our bed, just like a little baby. Now it seems funny to think back to a time like that. Eko is just so second nature to our family now.

Eko?

Eko was named after a character in the television series, Lost. Mr. Eko was one of the plane crash survivors from the plane tail section and, in my opinion, one of the more interesting characters. He also had a really great accent. Sometimes we call Eko Mr. Eko to pay homage to the original inspiration for the name.

I later had a fish that I named "House." Yes, we watch entirely too much television.

Eko Activities

Eko really loves to play. Sometimes I sit down and blow some bubbles so that he can attack them. This is truly one of the most amusing things to watch. He also has a lot of fun chasing and being chased by my nine month old son, Kai.

He also likes to watch the squirrels and lizards outside. We have to clean the sliding glass door a lot because his little nose leaves drip marks all over. We often suspect that the squirrels enjoy taunting Eko. They have a curious personality to their movements.

Nothing is more entertaining than watching Eko go crazy over bubbles. He try to make sure that he eats every single one. I wonder if he is trying to protect us from them or if he is just having fun?

Eko is original, absurd, silly, sweet, and always entertaining.
