Hawaii Five-0: The Remake

Ranked #3,571 in Entertainment, #44,271 overall

Hawaii Five-0 Returns

A remake of the iconic detective series Hawaii Five-0 (notice the subtle change from Hawaii Five-O - a zero instead of an "oh") returned to television in September, 2010.

Always a favourite TV show, Hawaii Five-O was a huge success during the 1970s when Jack Lord starred as the super cool Detective Steve McGarrett, bringing phrases such as Book 'em, Danno into popular culture.

Now, a dynamic new cast has been gathered together for a re-imagined take on the series for the twenty-first century. Having seen the first and second series of the show, this Hawaii Five-0 remake has fulfilled its promise of action and adventure with a lot of heart thrown in for good measure.

A successful second season is underway and fans have now been promised an upcoming third season.

Hawaii Five-0: The New Intro

A new arrangement of the familiar Hawaii Five-0 theme tune has been commissioned for the remake, with guitars replacing the brass section.

The all-too-short new intro mixes a modern feel, with several nods to the original series.

Hawaii Five-0: Theme Revamped

The Original Hawaii Five-O Opening

Here's how Hawaii Five-O used to look during its heyday of the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s.

Great theme tune, and some very cool names: eg. Zulu as Kono and Kam Fong as Chin Ho.

Nice Lens. The new show is good; the original is GREAT.

Such a great show to showcase the Hawaiian islands and the lifestyle of the 70s, and now updated for the new millennium. That's how I learned about surfing and The Ventures, who did the theme song.

I really didn't think I would like the new version but I do. I'll never forget Jack Lord as McGarrett, though.

Oh, loved this show when I was a teen and growing up. I always have trouble wrapping my mind around shows I watched all the time, and they remark it with new actors. Its never the same. I guess for those that never knew that difference, there isn't a difference. lol!

I was pretty young when this was on television. Black and white days, I believe. This show made it to NZ (which is where I saw it). I remember it quite well, along with The Streets of San Francisco. I am reluctant to see the new version, as so often I am disappointed with remakes. I will be interested in hearing your take on it!

I've yet to see the new Hawaii 5-0 (September/October has been a time of a major move for me), but my daughter LOVES it! I always liked the original Hawaii 5-O, so am sure I will enjoy the 'remake'. I'll return with an opinion once I get settled! :)

I loved the old but the new one sounds good too.

Really liked the remake but nothing beats the original series from way back when. The new cast is great though, and I'll be watching this regularly!

I didn't watch the old Hawaii Five-0 so I'm not sure if I will watch this one or not. Seems like it has a great cast though.
