The Hawaiian Leis
The first time I stepped on the Garden Island of Kauai, I was welcomed by my friends with fresh Leis or fresh flower garland and they greeted "Aloha, welcome to Hawaii". I feel great and loved. Almost everyday I saw people wearing leis: at the mall, airport, market, school. etc.
I thought it was just a simple work of gathering nice flowers and made it into a beautiful garland but I was mistaken. It takes time to learn and create a master piece of Lei. Observe it carefully. There are lots of small details. It is an art. I wish someday, I will also be making leis.
I have photographed at least two May Leis Contests of the Island and it will be featured below. Happy lei viewing.
