The variety and sheer number of plants with medicinal, therapeutic properties are quite astonishing.

My Personal Story and Experience with Hay Fever and Itchy Skin

I suffered from hay fever for many years. In the beginning, it was confined to my nose, but eventually it spread and my eyes started itching. And it didn't stop there, it got worse and worse, until I was scratching all around my eyes.

The skin was dry, became red, and started cracking. My eyes literaly became black and blue from the itching and scratching.

One co-worker asked me what happened to my eyes , because they were all swollen. When I told her it was from allergies she couldn't believe it. She said " Allergies, caused that ??!! "

My itchy swollen eyes were really terrible, I was on the verge of going to a hospital but one day by chance I took an herb that is well researched but few people know about, and within a day, all swelling and itching was gone. My hay fever was gone !!

Since that time, I began researching more and more about the mysterious and amazing world of medicinal herbs.

Conventional Medicine Relies on Plants for at least 1/4 of its Medicines

Over the years, infectious organisms have developed resistance to synthesized drugs, and to give one example, the herb qing hao ( Artemisia
annua ) and its active constituent Artemisia are now being used to treat malaria where the protozoa causing the infection no longer respond to conventional treatment.

Herbal medicine often complements conventional treatment, providing safe and well tolerated remedies for chronic illnesses.

Most commonly used herbs are extremely safe to use. Some plants however, can produce side effects, and like all medicines, must be treated with respect. When an herbal medicine is used correctly, however, the chances of developing a serious side effect are remote.

Today conventional medicine relies on plants for at least 25 percent of its medicines, and many of these drugs are the most effective of all conventional drugs. For example, aspirin was developed by isolating the active ingredient in willow bark, salicylic acid.

It is hard to think of a world deprived of the anti malarial properties of quinine (derived from Cinchona officinalis ) or the heart remedy Digoxin, also known as Digitalis. Digoxin is a purified cardiac glycoside extracted from the foxglove plant, Digitalis lanata.

Digoxin is widely used in the treatment of various heart conditions, namely , atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and sometimes heart failure.

Another example is the cough relieving properties of ephedrine ( from Ephedra sinica ) which is present in many prescription and over the counter remedies. These and many other conventionl medicines are all derived from isolated plant constituents.

Plants contain hundreds if not thousands of different constituent chemicals that interact in complex ways. Frequently we simply do not really know in detail how a plant works - even though its medicinal benefits are proven and well established.

In general, the human body is much better suited to treatment with herbal remedies than with isolated chemical medicines.

We have evolved side by side with plants for hundreds and thousands of years and our digestive system and physiology as a whole are geared to digesting and utilizing plant based foods which often have medicinal value as well as providing sustenance.

What is the Dividing Line between Foods and Medicines ?

The dividing line between "foods" and "medicines" may not always be clear. Are lemons, papayas, onions and oats foods or medicines ?

The answer very simply is that they are both. Lemon improves resistance to infection , papaya is taken in some parts of the world to expel worms, onion relieves bronchial infections and oats supports convalescence.

Although we might eat a bowl of oatmeal oblivious to the medicinal benefits, it will nonetheless ncrease stamina, help the nervous system to function correcty, provide a good supply of B vitamins and maintain regular bowel function.

There are many thousands of medicinal plants in use throughout the world with a tremendous range of actions and degrees of potency. Herbs are complex natural medicine composed of many active constituents that work on different body systems .

Herbs are great as a supplement to help you stay well, not only when you become ill.

Do you question the power of herbs to heal ? Well, take a close look at the labels of pain relievers and decongestants. You'll be amazed at how many of our everyday drugs and medicines come from herbs. This fact sure makes a solid case for herbal therapy.

Herbs and compounds derived from herbs have made some of mankinds most powerful drugs for centuries.

Most people don't know it, but about one fourth of all the medications that doctors prescribe today are made with active ingredients that are either derived from or are synthetic simulations of plant medicines. For instance, aspirin is derived from acetylsalicylic acid which is found in the bark of the white willow tree.

In fact, even our most common over the counter and home remedies are herb based. When you have a bad burn, aloe vera comes to your rescue and a little after dinner mint is just what the doctor ordered to aid digestion.

Herbal medicine actually predates the appearance of humans on earth, as animals are known to seek out and eat specific plants when they are sick.

Researchers have found that chimpanzees, for example, are attracted to plants that contain natural antibiotics and are known to dose themselves with herbs in times of sickness. Owners of dogs or cats would often see their pets nibbling certain grasses and weeds when they are sick.

Medicinal herbs have been used by people for thousands of years. Through time, they learned the uses of herbs through trial and error. As a matter of fact, there isn't a culture on earth that doesn't include the use of herbs as medicines in its historical record, even when that record is part of an oral tradition passed down from generation to generation by tribal elders, historians and medicine men and women.

It is doubtful that humans could have survived on earth without herbs.

These natural remedies have been relied upon and used throughout history, to treat ailments of every description, including arthritis, cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, digestive and bowel disorders, sexual problems, obesity, acne, psoriasis, colds, flu, infections - the list goes on and on.

Herbs are great as a supplement to help you stay well, not only when you become ill.

An herb generally works on the body in one of three ways: it can purge the body of impurities, it can build up the immune system, or it can strengthen the constitution of an organ so that the organ will heal itself.

Individual herbs can accomplish one or more of these functions, and specific herbs are used for specific ailments although there is often more than one herb which can aid in the treating of a particular ailment.

Nature's foods and healing herbs bloom with the colors of vitality. As you discover herbs that work for you, this vitality is shared and imparted to your health. Enjoy !

How does this remedy work ??

How does this remedy work ??

I was curious to see why this herbal combination that I wrote about earlier was so effective for allergies. After doing some more research I found out the reason.

My ebook How to Blast Your Allergies Away Forever !

First, let's look at what causes allergies. When foreign matter enters the body, it activates the body's natural defense mechanism. Substances called antibodies are released. They engulf and expel the offending invaders.

Under normal conditions, the amount of antibodies is proportional to the degree of damage.

However, allergy occurs when an over abundance of antibodies floods the system attacking both foreign matter and the body's own tissue.

Symptoms of allergy include : itching, runny nose, hives, difficulty in breathing etc..

Allergen suppressing injections and medications have been found to have only a short term effect.
Allergy suffering patients have a high concentration of allergen (antibody ).

I found out that one of the herbs in my remedy inhibits over zealous allergen
production.

When my remedy is employed as treatment for skin itches and hay fever, the results are very fast.

For other allergies the efficacy is gradual but pronounced. It works by nourishing and rebuilding, improving the function of immunity regulation.
This process is gradual but reliable and produces no harmful side-effects.

One of the herbs in my remedy has astringent properties that probably account for its usefulness to reduce mucous drainage.
This plant's antibiotic and astringent properties tighten membranes, effectively strengthening and improving circulation.

Rich in vitamins, it also contains tannins that are beneficial for reducing inflammation.

Astringent properties found in this herb make it ideal for relieving excess mucus and infectious conditions generally associated with sinusitis allergies, colds and upper respiratory problems.

This herb is used for cleansing and purifying the blood, therefore stimulating healthy liver functions.

Another herb in my remedy is a master eliminator of harmful bacteria.
Studies show that this herb strengthens specialized cells that are a critical part of your internal army that fight infection.
Studies show that it increases the strength and life span of all the white blood cells.
