Hazelnuts Cobnuts and Filberts I'm Nuts About This Natural Super Food

People who love hazelnuts are affectionately known as nutters. This play on words alludes to the fact that there are people who go mad this for versatile and highly nutritional nut.
Hazelnuts are also known as Cobnuts and Filberts. There are a variety of different hazelnut species around the world. Where I live in Bridgnorth Shrophsire the UK there is a disused RAF base called Stanmore which is now a country park. I take my dog for a walk through the park and on the far side there is a bridle-path that takes you to some managed woodland that has lots of hazelnut trees.
Hazelnuts come into season from late September, and are a superb natural food. One thing I didn't realise is that you can press hazelnuts to get hazelnut oil. Catherine Robinson who is a close friend of Richard Dain who owns Hurstwood farm says "cobnut oil can be heated to higher temperatures than olive oil".
The thing that really appeals to me about hazelnuts as well as their flavour is the fact that they are packed full of vitamins and calcium.
