I'm no expert on the HCG Diet by any means. My only encounter with someone that has actually done the diet is with my wife. As of the time of publishing this lense, she had lost 7 lbs in 10 days. First of all it might be important to know exactly what is HCG?

HCG is human chorionic gonadotropin. More specifically, its a natural protein hormone secreted by the placenta of pregnant women and purified from the urine.

How does HCG help you lose weight?

The use of HCG in weight loss was first studied by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons. It is not exactly clear how HCG promotes weight loss but Dr. Simeons believed that HCG would target fat deposits in the body and protect lean muscle.

Finally, what is the HCG diet?

The HCG Diet is a low calorie diet where HCG is given either orally or injected daily. Many have experienced a 1 - 3 lbs of weight loss a day with the HCG Diet.
