Should You Buy a Plasma or LCD HDTV?
Well this really depends of a few things, if you will be connecting computers or games consoles to your TV then you should opt for a LCD TV, this type of TV is a lot better at displaying sharper quality pictures from computers & games Consoles, as it's the same technology which computer monitors are using anyway.Now...Plasma TV's definitely have the edge with displaying accurate colours this can let you experience movies in a more realistic and natural way. They also tend to have bigger contrast ratios which gives you a wider range of tones and colour , so people that watch more movies should consider opting for a Plasma TV
But please be reminder there is a downside to some Plasma HDTV's, as they can suffer from a problem know as screen burn, this can happen if you have a still image on your plasma for hours without changing it, this can cause the image to be permanently burned into the screen, and that's something we all definitely don't want!.

What Size TV Should You Buy?
TV's for your living Room are usually one of these Sizes32" 40" 42" 46" 50" 52" 60" 63" or 65"
The Size of the TV you should buy can be judged on how big the room your putting the TV in, there is a better way to calculate than just by eye, Have a Look at the chart below which states the correct viewing distance for your TV.
What Is The Correct Viewing Distance for my TV?

HD Resolution Movies can actually change my viewing distance
If you are want to view Blu-ray or HD-DVDs on your TV it depends if your TV is
720p or 1080p capable
For 720p owners can watch their TV's at the bigger end of the distance due to
less detail in the picture! For 1080p owners can watch their TV's at the shorter end of the distance due to more detail in the picture!
What should be your maximum viewing angle?
To get the best out of your TV's cinematic experience your TV must be viewed at no more than a 30 degree angle, sometimes this can be more as it is not the same for all models of HDTV, but genrally most TV's can be have the best viewing angle of 30 degrees or less.
1080p or 720p - Which is Best For You?
First of all what does this mean if your not Techically minded? What is 1080p specifications? or What is 720p specifications?
It means the TV screen is made up from 1080 or 720 vertical pixel lines of detail,
the more lines of detail you have the clearer the image.
Most Hi definition televisions of today come in two flavours of definition, 1080p & 720p - so which is best For you?
well that all depends what you want to use the TV for!
Q) Which will I need to get the best of a blu-ray player?
A) Definitely 1080p as blu-ray movies are recorded at 1080p Resolution.
Q) I have an XBOX360, Play station 3 or Nintendo Wii Console & would like to know which take advantage of 1080p?
A) if you have PS3 or XBOX360 then go for a 1080p TV, but Nintendo Wii doesn't take advantage of HD even though it can be used with any hdtv.
Q) I have Digital Satellite or Digital Cable, will either of these take advantage of 1080p?
A) Sorry to disapoint you but nether, as 720p is the maximum broadcasting resolution for Digital HDTV Programs at present
Q) I have a 1080p HDTV with Freeview built in, it is not the latest Freeview HD. Will standard freeview take advantage of HD resolution in my TV?
A) No standard Freeview will not take advantage of your HDTV, but fortunately prices of Freeview HD boxes have come down considerably.
Please note 1080p TVs can be used
What is TV Aspect Ratio?
Understanding what aspect ratio is can be quite simple, the video image on most TV's has an aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:9 so what does this mean? Well if the ratio is 4:3 then this means the image is 33% wider compared to its height, 4:3 ratio is mostly used for standard TV, where 16:9 ratio is used for movies as its closer to the aspect ratio of cinema screens, therfore when movies are covnverted from the original film to blu-ray or dvd you lose less of the image. What is Contrast Ratio?
Ok lets imagine you have two HDTV sets displaying identical pictures, now one of these TV's has 5000:1 Contrast Ratio while the other has 50,000:1 Contrast Ratio, the TV that has the biggest ratio of contrast being 50,000:1 displays a very accurate picture with many tones from white to black, while the contrast levels from the HDTV with only 5000:1 has a less amount of white to black tones so the quality is reduced, this drop in quality as a comparison is more noticeable in pictures that are generally dark, or have a lot of dark tones. So if your choice is between to similar Top Branded HDTV's, but one has a much bigger Contrast then purchase that one.
What Does HD Ready Mean?
HD Ready Means that the TV Is Ready To handle Hi definition pictures, this means the TV has 1080p or 720p Lines of detail compared to standard definition which is 525 NTSC(USA) , or Pal 576(UK). Now if you want to watch high definition programs you must have a digital satellite or digital cable service that is Capable of receiving HD, you may connect any Blu-ray player to your HDTV to watch High definition movies as that is what blue-ray players where designed for. What Does Hertz Mean quoted for a particular TV?
The most popular Hertz specification that you will find on TV's are 60Hz, 100Hz, 120HZ, 240HZ or 600HZ
Most TVs Will Quote Hertz on the specification of the TV, what this actually means is that when in use the screen is updated 60, 100, 120, or 240 times per second. The More times a TV screen is updated the less flicker you will see, If the hertz is low this can be noticeable when you are watching Fast Moving Sporting events or action Movies. Generally if this motion flicker bothers you that much then you should purchase a TV that has 120HZ, or 240HZ.Please Note: if you have seen 600HZ quoted on a plasma TV's and you think its better than 240HZ, you would be wrong as the 600Hz Specification is basically just a 60HZ TV Marketing trick to fool the consumers that its better, when really its not.
LCD Explained
Here is the section that we explain more about LCD HDTVs
LED TV - Is This Just A Fancy Name For An LCD TV?
Well the fancy name is actually based on the backlighting, these LED HDTV's use LED Backlighting compared to fluorescent tubes in standard LCD HDTV's. So how does backlighting compare in LCD & LED TV's?When LCD TV's are switched on the fluorescent tubes which are used to back light the display, are always switched on, due to this some light escapes through front of HDTV even if the TV is displaying a partial black image. The result is that the image which has less depth and clarity.
Now with LED HDTV's you don't get any light escaping, the LED's with form the back lighting are placed along the back, and the perimeter of the display, both LED locations use less power and with the latter, LED TV's can have a much slimmer design compared to conventional LCD TV's
