Edging and Insertion Patterns
It is suggested you test the stretch of the elastic before making as the article you make will have to fit over your hand, head or shoulders. An alternative is to join the two ends with clear snaps, hooks or tie with ribbon.
There are a variety of insertion patterns; wide or narrow, filled or lacy, easy to make or more challenging. Some are knit and some are crochet.
Crochet Headband Free Pattern

Materials:
No. 4 crochet hook
Elastic metallic yarn
optional ribbon to tie ends
Size:
2 inches wide in shell stitch
Length as desired
Abbreviations:
ch chain
st stitch
sk skip
sl st slip stitch
sp space
dc double crochet
Row 1: Ch 16, dc in 4th st from hook, dc in same st, sk 2 ch, sl st in next st, repeat from * across; ch 4, turn.
Row 2: 2 dc in sl st of previous row, sl st in ch-3 lp of shell, * ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, sl st in ch-3 of next shell, repeat from * across row; ch 4, turn. Repeat this row for desired length.
Sew ends together or sew ribbon at each end to tie.
