The Hawaiian Code Of Forgiveness

Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian code of forgiveness, used to correct the things that went wrong in a person's life. According to the ancient Hawaiians, every memory of every experience since the beginning of our creation is stored in the subconscious mind. Error arises from thoughts that are tainted by unhealthy beliefs and painful memories from the past. These memories are like old programs constantly running in our subconscious mind.

Ho'oponopono offers a way to discover the Divinity within ourselves, and to ask through love, gratitude and forgiveness that Divine part of you to clear the energy of the painful thoughts, or errors in perception, which cause imbalance, pain, and disease.

Ho'oponopono tells that we are 100% responsible for what happens in our life, that the problem is always within us and never out there with the other person. When we have a problem, conflict, or illness to solve, we have to go within to work on ourselves, asking
"what is going on in me that caused the problem?"

The world is a reflection of what is happening inside us...as we heal ourselves, we heal the world around us.

Let it clean you...

Letting the Ho'oponopono mantra play continuously in the background while working at your computer is a way to be cleaning while you work! I especially love the song "Forgive Me," by Jennifer Salima Holt and play it often.

The Ho'oponopono Cleansing Mantra

I'm Sorry,
Please Forgive Me,
Thank You,
I Love You

These four simple phrases are the spiritual cleansing ritual that are the basis of Ho'oponopono. When something comes into your awareness you repeat these phrases just like a mantra and the process of cleaning our thoughts happens. You may clean life situations, places, relationships, even financial situations. The process is about freedom...complete freedom from the past.

"We can appeal to Divinity who knows our personal blueprint, for healing of all thoughts and memories that are holding us back at this time,"
-Morrnah Simeona. "

I'm Sorry - This statement opens the door to atonement. I take full responsibility for whatever it is within me that caused this suffering, even if I don't know what it is.

Please Forgive Me - I ask for forgiveness from the Divinity within me with the absolute certainty that it has already been granted.

Thank You -.Gratitude acknowledges that I recognize forgiveness and balance have been restored.

I Love You - Love is the greatest healing power, the painful memories are healed and replaced with love.

I'm Sorry
Please Forgive Me
Thank You
I Love You

In the book Zero Limits, Joe Vitale reveals a story about a therapist in Hawaii who cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients without ever seeing any of them! The psychologist would study an inmate's chart and then look within himself to see how he created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved...that therapist is Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, his method is called Ho'oponopono.

Teaming up with Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, master teacher of modern Ho'oponopono, Vitale shows you how to use the simple power of four phrases to attain wealth, health, peace, and happiness. Vitale and Len walk you through the system, helping you clear your mind of subconscious blocks so that destiny and desire can take over and help you get what you truly want from life. It clears out unconsciously accepted beliefs, thoughts, and memories that you don't even know are holding you back.

Kahuna Morrnah Simeona

Keeper of the Secret

Mornnah Simeona founded the non-profit Foundation of I, the more modern version of ancient Ho'oponopono, to promote the Ho'oponopono principles of Self-I-Dentity around the world. Morrnah was a Kahuna or healing priest who taught Ho'oponopono to small and large groups of people as well as to hospitals, colleges and even to United Nations personnel. In 1983 she received the great honor of being designated as a living treasure of Hawaii.

Mornnah eventually passed the torch to her long time student Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, master teacher of Ho'oponopono and co-author of the book "Zero Limits" who continues to teach.

"The main purpose of this process is to discover the Divinity within oneself. The Ho'oponopono is a profound gift which allows one to develop a working relationship with the Divinity within and learn to ask that in each moment, our errors in thought, word, deed or action be cleansed. The process is essentially about freedom, complete freedom from the past."
- Morrnah Simeona

Mornnah's Prayer

Another powerful prayer to cleanse the blocks to our highest health and healing both known and unknown.

Divine creator, father, mother, son as one...

If I, my family, relatives and ancestors have offended you, your family, relatives and ancestors in thoughts, words, deeds and actions from the beginning of our creation to the present, we ask your forgiveness...

Let this cleanse, purify, release, cut all the negative memories, blocks, energies and vibrations, and transmute these unwanted energies into pure light....And it is done.

You Are 100% Responsible

For Everything!

When a friend first introduced me to Ho'oponopono, I thought the idea of being responsible for everything was ridiculous! However as time has gone by and I have grown spiritually, I am seeing this idea of responsibility in a different light. I already knew that I was creating my life with my thoughts and that much of this creation was do to subconscious thought. I also believe that we are all one consciousness suffering from the illusion of separation, just as seeing a wave in the ocean as separate from the ocean is an illusion. It therefore follows that if we are all one than we are all responsible for everything that happens and many spiritual teachings follow this principle.

"I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for and receive as I have asked." - A Course In Miracles

I think when we first come into this realm we see the world with the love and clear sight of our creator. But then life happens to us, and all the experiences we have color or cloud the lens through which we see the world...instead of seeing the world through the eyes of our creator our perception is clouded by painful memories from the past that are held in our subconscious mind. What Ho'oponopono does is to clear out those memories so that we are once again seeing the world through a clear lens (the eyes of our creator).

"Conflict and war in the world reflect conflict and war in the mind, and both this inner and outer turmoil are born of thoughts of anger and attack. The relinquishment of anger and attack and the practice of forgiveness are, therefore, essential to the realization of peace both in the world and in ourselves."
- A Course In Miracles

Where Do You Stand on the Issue of Responsibility?

Hooponopono tells us that we are 100% responsible for everything that happens in our life. Do you believe that to be true?

Yes, I don't like the idea but I believe it to be true.

Pritha says:

Yes.it is true.I am learning to trust that I am responsible in order to be more happy and content both outside and inside.thankyou

ajgodinho says:

Well, each one of us is responsible for whatever happens in our lives. It's about the choices we make, the words we speak, the thoughts we think of, the deeds we do...we've been given a lot of choices and we've been given grace, if we can humbly receive it!

Wayne says:

Ho'oponopono is powerful and the idea of being 100% responsible is were the power is with this Ancient Hawaiian System.

Well, I believe we do have a responsibility in our lives...

awakeningwellness says:

It is hard to believe the 100% part, but I am open to the possibility of it.

toriphile81 says:

It makes sense the way you explain it, but I still have a difficult time wrapping my mind around it...I'm getting there though :)

Margo_Arrowsmith says:

I know we are a lot responsible, but not all.

No, that is a bunch of hogwash!

Ladymermaid says:

I cannot believe this concept because fate and the bad judgement of others does play a hand in the events which happen to us. A child is innocent and cannot be held responsible for the actions which mold them into their future personality. Some take many years to recover and discover their true self.

In The Easiest Way to Live, you will find the keys to becoming your true self, being in harmony with life and pure in heart, which is a state of essential clarity. You will discover that most of the challenges you face are caused by past patterns and memories that keep replaying in your subconscious and block you from being who you really are. You will find that no problems exist outside of you, and since they are inside of you, you have the ability to take 100% responsibility for them and neutralize them.

These truths and techniques are ancient secrets of Ho'oponopono. They are as relevant and applicable today as they were centuries ago. Knowing and applying them is, truly, the easiest way to live a joyful, abundant, and eminently fulfilling life.

This is related to something that I did years ago, not Hawaiian, but this has to be universal.
