About Meditation
Meditating is actually easier than you might imagine. Most of us have probably dabbled in meditation by participating in conscious relaxation - perhaps during an exercise class or to manage pain at the dentist or anxiety before a test. We start by paying attention to our breathing. The practical effort of meditation is to focus completely on our breathing taking our minds away from the "mind clutter" that constantly tries to invade our mind and eliminates feelings that will lead to a time of calm.
With repeated effort the goal of clearing your mind - to think of nothing, does occur and the process of meditation takes on its own energy. The result is greater mental space/peace, serenity, calmness, eventually opening you to new insights.
Our world can be fast, fun and exciting. It is also challenging, trying, demanding and frightening. These two sides of our lives produce stress, emotional reactions, anxiety, worry and anticipation. Our bodies and minds can tolerate only so much of any of these. After a while, each of us reaches a saturation point and the results become uncomfortable at best; for some it may be unbearable, even unendurable.
Yet many of us continue to live day after day with huge emotional and physical stress locked in our minds and bodies. A few days of self-healing meditation practice can transform your perception of your own health and well-being for good.
There is no right or wrong behavior during your meditation, i.e. don't judge yourself JUST experience. It is your time for you. Everyone deserves this kind of personal attention. This is a self-care activity; loving oneself!
So what exactly is meditation? There are many types of meditation. The one definition that fits almost all types is..."Consciously directing your attention to alter your state of consciousness."
There's no limit to the things you can direct your attention toward... symbols, sounds, colors, breath, uplifting thoughts, etc. Meditation is simply about attention... where you direct it, and how it alters your consciousness.
More recently, meditation has become a valuable tool for finding a peaceful oasis of relaxation and stress relief in a demanding, fast-paced world.
It can be used for healing, emotional cleansing and balancing, deepening concentration, unlocking creativity, and finding inner guidance. Meditating is also the culmination of yoga exercises as your body reaches a state of relaxation, so should your mind.

Visualization and Breathing Meditation
Your imagination can be your most powerful ally. Professional athletes practice visualization before performance. And studies have shown that practicing visualization before a performance can be just as effective as actual physical practice. In other words, your subconscious, tends to perceive imagination/visualization and physical realty as the same! So I will say it again. Imagination is your most powerful ally. Make it your friend.
A Quick Lesson in Visualization
Many people believe that they cannot 'see images'. Fortunately that's not possible. If you have eyes images play a large role in how you organize your perceptions. If you can daydream then you can visualize.
· An easy way to start is just to think about your house or apartment.
· Imagine you are standing outside and looking at your door
· Describe your door in detail. What color is it? What is the shape of the door handle? What is it's color? How high is the door? What does it sound like if you knock on it?
· The part of your mind that you are using to describe the door is the part you can use for visualization.
· Imagine your door in a different color. First blue, then red, then green, then yello, then purple. If you can do this you can do all the visualizations in this course. Simply use your imagination and pretend if you have to. The more you can pretend the better your imagination will get at it.
Exercise:Golden Light Breathing Meditation
Visualizing Yourself Breathing in 'Golden Light' can be a Very Effective Breathing Meditation to Help Calm and Focus.
· All you have to do is imagine yourself surrounded by golden light and slowly start breathing it in.
· First breathe in the light through your mouth then pretend to breath it in through your skin.
· Breathe this light in deeply and breathe out any tension.
· Breathe through each part of your body in turn.
· Finally see if you can feel as if you are breathing in this light through every pore in your body.
· Fill your body with the golden light while saying to yourself, "I feel Wonderful, I feel Relaxed, I feel focused."

Self-Healing Breathing Practice
One of the best ways of releasing these toxins is by means of exhaling while breathing. One funny fact is that most of do not breathe properly. Just take a look at the picture like this. With each breath that we take, we take in oxygen. This oxygen is carried by the blood to every cell of the body and every cell must indeed get enough oxygen not just to survive but to remain healthy as well.
So it is imperative that we make an honest attempt to breathe properly. But first of course we have to make sure that we are breathing in unpolluted air. The time best for breathing exercises is early in the morning when the air is comparatively unpolluted.
Now what you have to do is this. Again, sit comfortably so that there is no strain to any part of your body. It is not imperative that you close your eyes, but I have always noticed that the exercise works better when the eyes are closed.
When you are ready, what you have to do is to breathe in deeply and slowly, and feel the fresh air filling up your lungs until it just can't take any more. Conjure up images of the air encircling throughout your body and reaching every cell, literally bathing it with oxygen. Of course it doesn't happen that way but the image helps a lot. Then hold your breath for a few seconds and then very slowly exhale letting out all that foul air.
Again conjure up an image of all the toxins being released from your body. Every cell has become free of the burden it was carrying. Now pause for a second or two and again breathe in deeply, slowly letting your lungs fill up with all that good, clean, rejuvenating air. Repeat this exercise at least ten times and take your time for it taking care not to rush through.
When you have done that part of the exercise it is time for the second part. Again sit with your eyes closed, but this time, keep one nostril closed with the help of your index finger. It is best to close the right nostril first and that too with your right index finger. Now breathe in deeply and slowly through your left nostril keeping the right nostril closed. When you have held air for a second or two, release your right nostril and breathe out through it.
While you are breathing out conjure up an image of all the toxins being released form your head and the brain especially. And as you breathe in conjure up images of the clean air circulating though out your brain freeing it of all the worries and trouble and lightening it.
Repeat this exercise with the other nostril closed and in this way alternate between the nostrils at least ten times. The entire breathing exercise need not take more than ten minutes.

Self-Healing Meditations Using Color
In this simple healing meditation, you send the powerful healing Life Force(in yoga called 'prana' in chi kung called 'chi') directly to the area in need of help. This Life Force is the energy behind all healing. Wherever this energy is flowing and in balance, there is health and well being. Wherever this energy is blocked or out of balance, illness manifests.
Many people believe in visualization as a key healing tool. Energy healing meditation helps you to concentrate your positive energy on an afflicted area and alleviate any adverse symptoms and feelings that are being manifested through the physical pain.
Sit reasonably straight and close your eyes.
Breathe slowly, as silently as possible. (Holding your breath after inhaling or exhaling is not recommended.)
As you inhale, feel yourself breathing the healing Life Force in through your solar plexus. Picture this Life Force as a very refined, light energy. (as in golden light breathing meditation above).
As you exhale, gently direct this light energy to the afflicted area. If there is not a specific ailing area, disperse this light energy throughout your body as you exhale.
Continue until you feel the area has received enough Life Force.
Color healing meditation will provide you with cleansing, balancing, & healing at all levels: Mental, Emotional, Vital, & Physical. It also will develop concentration & visualization abilities.
Meditation # 2
Sit comfortably with your eyes closed.
Visualize a large ball of radiant Golden light a few inches over your head. Visualize that ball of light slowly descending through your crown, filling your entire being with golden light.
Imagine yourself absorbing that light as it nourishes, cleanses & heals your whole being - your Spirit and all of your bodies - dissolving all blocked and toxic energies.
Repeat this exercise, visualizing a ball of Red light. Continue through the entire spectrum like this, visualizing a ball of Orange light; Yellow light; Green light; Blue light; Indigo light; and Violet light. Go through the spectrum at whatever pace feels appropriate.
Take some time to visualize yourself in a state of perfect, radiant health.

- I like how you explained the process of visualization and how to develop this skill. Many say, "visualize!" but don't tell anyone how to do it.
