Health and beauty go together - at least: health contributes to beauty. Ultimately, for most of us, health is more important.

What follows are my lenses about both topics.

How I manage my red cheeks (they were way worse)

My personal rosacea story

More skincare for sensitive skin

I'm actually not much of a fashionista, though I do try and look decent - but then, who doesn't. I am, I guess, a bit of a health freak, a vegetarian and I abstain from alcohol.

Heart problems in women? Yes, we get them too...

In my family history

I bought this lens at squidu because heart problems run in the family, on my fathers side. My grandfather died when he was 50 (and my dad was 12), so I never knew him. My grandma on that side died of a heart attack when she was 70.

About health elsewhere

I have several places online where I publish. This is a selection of the articles on health I've published there.
Health and Spirituality
Articles on health and spirituality-issues like drugs, sex, food (vegetarianism) healing and reiki.
Psychotropic such as mescaline and mystical experience
Wondering what peoples' views on this list are on psychotropic such as mescaline and mystical experience.
Spirituality and Health - What's the connection? Katinka Hesselink
There are all kinds of theories floating about how a spiritual person is supposedly automatically healthier.
Risks of meditation
Meditation is popular, in some circles almost mandatory, but is it healthy for all?
The Power to Heal [spiritual healing]
Those who may, after reading our remarks, feel a call to heal the sick, should bear in mind the fact that all the curative magnetism that is forced by their will into the bodies of their patients, comes out of their own systems. What they have, they can give; no more. Those who may, after reading ou
Manic Depression - A Personal Story of Spirituality
[I met Meindert online in a Dutch e-mailgroup on theosophy. Later we met in the flesh and I got to know how sane a person can be, even when diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder, and on permanent medication.
Myths, facts and opinions on vegetarianism and eating meat
As this collection calls for a lot of debate, I should make it clear that I feel Westerners can be vegetarians and that human beings are inherently omnivours who have the choice to abstain from eating meat and meat products.
Health @ All Considering spiritual blog
Articles about reiki, vegetarian health issues and age.

Vegetarianism and food

I'm a vegetarian. A healthy one. I've been a vegetarian since 1994 (ouch I'm getting old). I've made a few lenses about the topic: how to stay healthy, and why.

Sleep & noise & Ear, Nose, Eyes

I'm a light sleeper, so you can image street noise or loud neighbors are an issue for me. Especially since I need a lot of sleep...

Consciousness, psychology and neurology

I've been fascinated by these topics for a long time. I used to read books out of my moms professional psychology book collection as a teenager. I wasn't even interested in spirituality back then. These are some of the lenses I've made out of that fascination.

Spirituality and health

I've made a few lenses that are on health AND spirituality.

Dealing with disabilities

in reply to cjsysreform I'm sorry about that - your reply didn't sound to me like you had. But it's clear from all reports (and all I have on these subjects is reports) that drug use can go bad very easily - and that it's only in a spiritually sound setting do the experiences turn out 'good' or 'inspiring'. And repeated use does of course lead to addiction and in many cases ruin.

Losing physical boundaries is often seen as a spiritual experience though - so you had part of the experience some interpret as a spiritual one.

I did read the article. While it discourages using hallucinogens for spiritual development, it does concede that some people have what they mistakenly believe to be spiritual experiences while using these drugs. What I was saying in my earlier comment was that I'm not one of those people, and the remark about being "not spiritually optimized" was a joke.

I'm kind of upset that you assumed I hadn't read the article.

in reply to cjsysreform No - you just haven't read the article :) It totally agrees with you: drugs are usually not a good entry into the spiritual path & repeated drug use (aka addiction) is very bad for spiritual development.

in response to the article about using hallucinogenic drugs to encourage spiritual enlightenment: i can't say i've ever experienced that myself. and yeah, i've done every drug... ugh, most of them just made me lost all sense of my physical boundaries. maybe i'm just not spiritually optimized enough? ;)
