True Story on Autism

Many thanks to Lisa Maghrak for sharing this valuable information on Autism and to the Becker family for telling their story. - Robbie

Subject: Autism and Melaleuca products

When you have valuable information, it's important to share it with those you love and care about...

It's been a while since I've updated you all on our progress. As you may recall, our son Tony (who is now 13 yrs old) is autistic. Autism is a developmental disability that impacts normal development of the brain in the area of social interaction and communication skills.

Autism is a difficult thing to understand. Doctors and experts still do not know everything there is to know. Yet, as a parent of an autistic child, that's exactly what you want-to know everything so you can fix it. There are still many mysteries surrounding autism. The most important thing to remember through it all is that there is hope. Autism isn't a death sentence. There have been many advancements in the last few years and many autistic children have gone on to lead wonderful, rich lives. So, if you are a parent of an autistic child, do what I do... take a deep breath and say quietly to yourself every day: "There is Hope".

Sadly, Autism is far too common. Autism effects 1 in 250 births, and is three to four times more prevalent in boys than girls. This means that 1.5 million Americans are believed to have some form of autism. No one knows what causes Autism.
Children and adults with autism typically experience difficulty with:
%u2022 communication, both verbal and nonverbal.
%u2022 making and maintaining consistent eye contact with others.
%u2022 attention span.
%u2022 social skills. Autistic people have a strong propensity toward exclusive activities.
%u2022 routines or repetitive behaviors, i.e. obsessively repeating words or body movements, or arranging belongings in a very specific way.
%u2022 self-help skills, such as toileting, feeding, dressing, brushing teeth, etc.
One person with autism may have very different symptoms and behaviors than another. Because of these differences, doctors now think of autism as a "spectrum" disorder, or a group of disorders with a range of similar features. A person with mild autistic symptoms is at one end of the spectrum. A person with severe symptoms is at the other end of the spectrum. Because of this, autism is now often called autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Although no one day is the same, I can say that every day is a journey. Please share this information with your friends, neighbors, business associates, and anyone who's life may be touched by autism. Most will say their lives are good, even with this disorder in their lives... but some of us can say our lives are GREAT and we have the help of some fantastic products that are allowing our children to heal their bodies from the inside out. I'm proud to say that Tony is currently medication-free and is progressing every single day. We realize that we still have a long road ahead of us. Melaleuca has also allowed me to work from home for the past 5 years. So, when "life" happens, I can always count on my strong, residual income. And the best news is, it's only going to get better!
Here are just a few of the ways that Melaleuca products can enhance the lives of autistic children:
1. GET RID OF ALL TOXINS IN THE HOME. I can not stress how important this is. Convert your home to Melaleuca's EcoSense products. These kids have a very, very low tolerance to chemicals and it affects their behavior. Their behavior is very unpredictable -- at any age. Getting rid of poisonous household products will reduce the stress load in your lives.
2. Take full doses of the Vitality for Life products daily. If your child can not swallow pills, give him/her 1 chewable VitaBear for every 25 lbs. If your child can swallow pills, give him/her the Vitality Gold packets or the Vitality for Life packets. Get as much as you can into their system! There are no other vitamins on the market with this PATENTED DELIVERY PROCESS called Fructose Compounding. It allows the minerals to be absorbed at the cellular level. Now, getting your child to take these vitamins may not always be easy, and they won't always want to take them all... but remember: autism is a creature of habit. Once you establish this as a habit, you are home free! Don't give up! It is VERY worth the fight! It's up to YOU to create this habit.
3. Take 3-4 capsules of Provex Plus daily. This will alleviate allergy symptoms all year round and allow them to concentrate. It's also used to help symptoms of ADD/ADHD and other behavioral issues. Due to the super antioxidants in the Provex line, this will allow you to stop any/all allergy medications over time and with the help of your physician.
4. Take 4-6 Phytomega daily. Research shows that Omega-3's are brain food. In 1995, researchers reported that children with ADHD and similar behavioral problems had significantly lower concentrations of key fatty acids. Additional support comes from evidence that low plasma omega-3 levels in boys are associated with behavior problems, temper tantrums, sleep disorders plus focus and learning challenges. There's also many clinical trials that have reported using a fish oil supplement in children with autism or Asperger's Syndrome. The great news it that Phytomega has both fish oil and Omega-3's! We have seen an incredible language burst and conversation skills while using this product.
5. Use Tough & Tender for bath time. Tony will still swallow the bath water at times, and now I don't have to worry about the chemicals in bubble bath or any other bath product. Tough & Tender is wonderfully soothing and it leaves his skin baby soft, due to the natural properties of Melaleuca oil. It's inexpensive and makes tons of bubbles in the tub. Baths are Tony's "escape" or relaxing time --- and he is known to take 3-4 baths a day sometimes.
6. Use Pain-a-trate at bedtime. This not only calms him, but it helps him breathe easier. I apply it to his chest, his legs and even his feet. He loves it! It's great for his sensory needs. It has a warming effect (due to the penetration of the actual Melaleuca oil in the product) and has a nice, calming smell.
7. Spray bedding/pillows everyday with diluted Sol-U-Mel. This will kill dust mites, mold, mildew and other hidden germs that can "fog" their brain. (Again, it's the natural fungicide properties of the Melaleuca oil in this products that kills mold and mildew on contact)
Parents of autistic children are looking for a better quality of life for their child, whom they love and adore just as any other child. If you know someone who's touched by autism, please take the time to introduce them to Melaleuca. They will thank you, I promise you that. These simple, inexpensive changes have made all the difference in our little corner of the world. Thank you, Melaleuca!
