You've heard it before haven't you? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Whether you want to eat breakfast or not, there is evidence that says that by eating breakfast you could indeed reduce your risk of obesity. It's important that you make healthy breakfast choices though, not just fill your bowl with any old packaged cereal.

If you're in a hurry don't let that convince you that it's okay to skip breakfast or grab an unhealthy muffin from the cafe next to your office. Fruit is pretty much ready-to-eat and is a good option for those on the run. Grab an apple and banana on your way out the door to ensure you don't miss out on breakfast altogether.

Another quick healthy breakfast choice is a smoothie. Throw a banana, some blueberries, pinch of cinnamon, skinny milk and skim yogurt into the blender and whiz for a few minutes. Invest in a portable drinking flask to make it easy to get moving but taking your healthy breakfast right along with you.

Tim Ferris - The 3-Minute "Slow-Carb" Breakfast

What Does Tim Ferris Eat for Breakfast?

Tim Ferris, author of the bestselling The 4-Hour Workweek and now back on top of the New York Times' Bestseller List with The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman
put out this YouTube video on his version of the "Quick and Healthy Breakfast" awhile ago. He calls it a version of Huevos Rancheros, but by adding in the spinach, I think of it more along the lines of a healthy breakfast version of Eggs Florentine.

I've tried this healthy breakfast in the past but I am uncomfortable using Tupperware in the microwave so I use ramekins instead and I substitute sea salt for regular table salt which is brings out more flavor with even less sodium. I also skip the flaxseed and just take a supplement along with my daily multiple vitamin.

I think Tim's red wine interjection is hysterical but I don't drink red wine (too many sulfates) and might have about 6 ounces of pomegranate or grape juice instead.

Video About Tim Ferris' Book

I had no clue that books now had video trailers just like movies! I haven't read the book yet but I sure do like the background music.

That motivational music on the Tim Ferris video is enough to get you up at at 'em in the AM. Unlike much of their music, this one doesn't even have an Explicit warning on it.

Vanilla Chai Yogurt

A Contemporary Twist on an Old Standby

An old boss of mine was a tea connoisseur. Every afternoon, she was making tea in her cubicle. She introduced me to one of her favorites - Vanilla Chai Tea- and now it's a favorite of mine, too.

The ingredients in Chai Spices are basically Cardamom, Cinnamon, and Cloves. You can also add ginger, peppercorns, nutmeg, fennel and star anise to your own taste.

For a Chai twist on yogurt, what I like to do is take some plain, non-fat yogurt - either Greek or regular with live cultures drained in a strainer over a bowl - and I add in about a 1/4 teaspoon of Alcohol Free Vanilla Flavor (I prefer flavor over extract but you can experiment to your own taste) and then add in a dash of the base Chai ingredients plus nutmeg and a small amount of grated ginger. I'll blend it well and refrigerate it overnight.

Vanilla Chai Yogurt works as a great alternative to having to settle for plain or fruit yogurts.

I also find that adding a few chopped, toasted walnuts helps add that extra protein needed to feel full.

Vanilla Chai Tea

If you like Chai tea and vanilla, try the two together. You won't be disappointed.
