Why Is A Healthy Breakfast So Important For A Child With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

A healthy breakfast is vitally important for all kids, but even more so with children who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

A poor breakfast (or worse yet, no breakfast at all) will leave your child feeling restless, irritable, hyper and unable to concentrate.

On the other hand a healthy breakfast will provide your child's brain with the necessary fuel to focus & concentrate on his school work.

This lens will show you the difference between an unhealthy breakfast and a balanced one, as well as provide some tips, resources and recipes to get you started.

The Top 3 Breakfast Mistakes Parents Make.

2. Providing Skimpy or boring Breakfasts.
3. Not eating breakfast themselves.

Scores.

Imagine how much more hunger affects a child, who is less able to control their emotions.

6. Breakfast eaters have more strength and endurance.
They are better nourished than those that don't eat breakfast.

7.Keeps your child's weight under control.

A Balanced vs an Unbalanced Breakfast

What a balanced breakfast is and why it's important.

The word breakfast literally means 'break fast' . Your body has gone all night long without any nourishment and needs to replenished soon after you wake up.

Eating is one half of the equation, what you eat is the other. If your child is hungry very soon after eating breakfast, then he isn't eating the right foods.

Breakfasts that consist primarily of sugary foods and refined carbohydrates such as sweetened fruit juice, doughnuts or sugar coated breakfast cereals, are likely to make your child very hyperactive, jittery and inattentive. And an hour or so later, your child's blood sugar levels plummet making your child hungry once again.

The secret is giving your child a balanced breakfast. Protein is an essential component of a balanced breakfast because it helps to keep a child's blood sugar levels stable.
