Good dietary advice. Don't forget that dried red kidney beans need to be soaked overnight, then boiled briskly in fresh water for at least 10 minutes, to destroy a poisonous chemical which they contain. Crock pots do not reach high enough temperatures to kill this chemical. After boiling, they can safely be used in crock pot recipes.
