Hi and welcome! :) It's that you found this lens, especially if you want to know what your ideal food for your constitution and life style is, also what does NewPlate stand for and finally, which are the 4 Food Pyramids that are, at least on my opinion, the best ones to eat and live by, since they give amazing results to people living all over the world? This lens will also show you some of the best recipes you can use daily in order to live healthy.

One of many people's new year's resolutions (mine was too :) was this one: "My new year's resolution is to have ideal weight for my height and to be healthy." Hmmmm, it sounds nice, but sometimes it is easier to say things than to actually accomplish them, though I can tell you by my own experience, that ideal weight is not that hard to gain, nor to maintain - even on the contrary - sometimes it can also be really FUN to experiemnt with food and all these recipes and get convinced by yourself once you see results, what is really the best and healthy food for you.

One of the best ways to prevent unhealthy eating habits is simply to learn 3 basic things:

1. to know what BMI you should have in order to maintain your health (BMI stands for Body Mass Index) which I am going to explain it to you in the new article below this one.
2. to eat healthy and balanced food (again, there are at least 10.000 of extremely easy to make and great recipes for preparing ideal meals and once you know what food your body is happy with, you can do miracles to your body in only a month! See the articles below this one, where I am going to explain it to you, what food pyramids are there available to you and what miracles they can do for you!).
3.to exercise on a daily basis (do not worry about this, as you do not have to do any hard and exhausting work-outs - there are fun ways of working out your body and I am going to prove it to you in the article, which I'm planning to publish by the end of this week)

There, when you take these 3 crucial things into consideration, you are already half through on your way to achieve ideal weight and run more healthy life.

One of the most important things when pursuing more healthy life, is definitely knowing what type of food is good for your body, which is the one you definitely should not eat and what is the food you should eat on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. I created this Healthy Food Guide lens in order to help you find your ideal and healthy food plan and it will be my pleasure if you let me know whether this lens was actually of any help to you.

Choose the right Food Pyramid

There are many food pyramids, which are triangular or pyramid-shaped, mostly nutrition guides, which are divided into a couple of sections to show you what are the recommended intakes for each food group. And you will be surprised to hear that there is NOT only one perfect food pyramid available to you! On the contrary, there are many great food pyramids which you can follow and in this lens I am going to represent you a couple of them, which I personally think are the best ones and I've already tried some of them.

These are my favorite food pyramids, which I think you should try to remember and apply to your everyday's life (or try to live and eat by at least one for a certain period of time, let's say for at least 2 or 3 months):

1. New Food Pyramid
2. Mediterranean Food Pyramid (my favorite!)
3. Australian Food Pyramid
4. Latin American Diet Pyramid

There are, however also some others that I think are amazing, but I'm going to cover them in the next days, so be back soon. Take a look now at the next articles, where I'm going to explain to you what BMI is, how you can calculate it for yourself and describe different types of food pyramids and what is even more important - I'm also going to represent to you some of the best work outs and exercises for shaping your body and making it healthy.

Healthy Food Guide - New Food Pyramid - NewPlate - for healthy life

New Food Pyramid - New Food PlateDid you know that 50% of illneses are caused by unhealthy thoughts, 40% of them by unhealthy food and only 10% of them are the ones you do not have control of (by the time I am writing this, I've already found an alternative healing technique called Theta Healing(I'm also a Theta Healing practitioner), which can also help you cure these 10% of illnesses that had been consired for incurable)?

If you know this, then you will also be surprised to read that the ones which are caused by unhealthy food are the easiest to get rid of, as changing your unhealthy eating habits is much easier to do (you can achieve great results in only a month), than to change your thoughts (you'll even need months, if not years for this).

Gone are the days of food pyramids, although there are still some of them which are actually very good and easy to follow, once you are clear with what the proportions and the amount of each type of food are. There are food experts that have already monitored more than millions of people worldwide and come to conclusions which lead them to represent totally new and healthy food guide for you - a New Food Pyramid, which is also called a NewPlate, is consisted of food that is beneficial to you.

This plate is divided into 4 main sections, with one small side circle (or small plate) added:

1. the largest section represents vegetables
2. the second very important section represents grains
3. the third sector represents fruits
4. and the fourth section represents proteins

There is also a smaller plate, which represents dairy.

At this point you may wonder why there is no meat (red meat and skinless poultry) written on the plate, or any other fruits and vegetables are not named. Well, since dairy and grains are a very important source of proteins, they could as well almost totaly replace red meat and poultry, which are rich with proteins.

And since experts now know that the old food pyramid was actually misleading guidance (the old food pyramid still mentioned red meat as the food we could intake on the weekly basis), they have decided to rather name the food by the group which they belong to (meat industry is still one of the strongest industries and this way food experts keep their profiles low in order to keep everyone satisfied).

There were servings mentioned in the Old Food Pyramid, but no one really knew what the proportions of each group of food were. Sometimes 11 servings of grains were totally missinterpretted, as the serving sizes grew to tremendous proportions and no none knew what serving sizes were. Also, we know now that large amounts of grains are not good for your health.

Now, that we have a New Food Plate, it is much easier to know the amounts and proportions of the food we can intake on a daily basis.

Mediterranean Food Pyramid and healthy food guide

Mediterranean food diet pyramidWere you ever wondering why people, living in the Mediterranean countries, have in general healthy looking bodies without any fat excess and are known to have a lover rate of heart and coronar diseases as other people do? Well, a big portion of thanks goes definitely to their Mediterranean food pyramid, as it is even not that much a diet, but their way of living.

Mediterranean Food Pyramid includes above all regular physical activity. It is crucial to maintain one's body fit and healthy. If you live by the sea, then you know that regular water sport activities make you feel good and healthy.

What is more, this food pyramid does not include any animal fat, or at least in very small amounts, while fresh herbs and garlic are used oftenly.

Therefore, to start with, you will need to include these types of food in your Mediterranean food pyramid:

1. Breads, rice, polenta, couscous, bulgur, other grains and potatoes - you can eat them on your daily basis
2. Vegetables - eat it on the daily basis, in huge amounts
3. Fruit - eat it on the daily basis
4. Wine - yeah, you've read that right - wine is one of the best drinks to consume in order to intake plenty of vitamins and minerals, but do not exagerate and only drink it in small amounts, in moderation
5. Beans, ledume and nuts - consume them on the weekly basis
6. olive oil - consume it in moderation, but it is good, as it contains vitamins, which are good for your skin, hair and other internal organs
7. Cheese and yogurt - try to eat these in moderation, rather on your weekly basis
8. Poultry, fish, eggs - only eat a few times per week
9. Sweets and red meat - only eat these a few times per month!

Healthy Food Guide and BMI

Healthy Food Guide and your BMIIf you are new with the term of BMI, then let me first explain it to you, what the abbreviation BMI stands for. BMI stands for Body Mass Index and it is an amazing tool which can help you measure the amount of body fat that you have based on your weight and height. You can calculate BMI in no time by simply measuring your weight in pounds and height in inches. Once you have your weight, multiply it by 703. Then multiply your height times itself. Now you must divide the first result by your height times itself.

If you are 60 inches tall and weight 110 pounds, you simply do this calculation: (703 x 110 = 77,330). And then you do this calculation: (60 x 60 = 3,600). Finally, you do the division: (77,330 / 3,600 = 21.48).

Now how to interpreet your BMI and how to know whether your BMI is too high or too low?

1. If your BMI is below 18.5, you are underweight. In this case you should conslult your doctor to make some changes regarding your diet plan.

2. If your BMI is below 24.9 and higher than 18.5, then your weight is normal and you should keep continue following your healthy diet and also exercising.

3. If your BMI is somewhere between 25.5 and 29.9, then you are overweight and you should definitely consider to talk to your doctor, find a good nutritionist and do some lifestyle changes. Do not worry too much, though, as it is not that hard to make slow, but effective changes and I created this lens to help you with that.

4. If your BMI is above 30, then you are already considered obese. Since obesity causes several health conditions and complications, it is a must to make basic changes RIGHT NOW! Read all the articles in this lens, as they definitely include important and helpful information, then visit your nutritionist and doctor and make a healthy diet plan together. Also, find some work-outs instructor to prepare a work-out plan for you. If you do not want that, or you think it is too hard for you to do work outs, there are even fun ways of loosing the calories and your weight - Zumba Dance is one of the best work-outs, where you are having a blast and you do not have to run or do heavy push ups. I'm going to write about this type of exercise in one of the next articles, so make sure you are back by the end of this week.

While BMI is a good indicator of your body mass, you should also take into consideration that BMI does not distinguish between fat mass and your muscle mass, therefore one's weight could be higher due to plenty of muscles and therefore also BMI could be higher. So, talking to your doctor or an expert about your actual result regarding BMI could also be good for you, if your BMI is higher than it should be.

Australian Food Pyramid is very popular and almost iconic tool for proper food selection and it has been used to help people choosing healthy food for more than 30 years. It is also known that Australia is using a special model called AGHE (The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating), called also Plate, which is an additional food selection model, which was developed by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services.

We all know that there is, however no single and best food selection model, but such models can help us select the food which we like and suit our needs the most.

The Australian Food Pyramid is known to encourage not only variety of food, but also such food, which is low in fat, suggar and salt. what is more, this type of pyramid includes food that is rich with fibre and sufficient water. It also enocourages people to take more physical activities, as it promotes exercises and is called also a Lifestyle Tool.

Australian Food Pyramid encourages us to eat:

1. more vegetables, dried peas, beans and lentils, cereals, bread, fruit and nuts
2. moderately lean meat, eggs, fish, skinless chicken, milk, yoghurt and cheese
3. in small amounts oil, margarine
4. none or very small amounts of fat spreads, butter and suggar

As you can see, Australian Food Pyramid, such as many others, already described on this lens, promotes exclusion of suggar, fats, butter, oils and margarine, or at least promotes to eat them rather on a monthly basis.

    Hi! Thank you for your comment! Yes, I so agree with you. I excluded white suggar and milk almost completely from my food and insteead of cow's milk I rather use oat, rice or soya milk. As for suggar, it is better to use melasa, which has so many vitamins and minerals and it is tasty, too :)

    I live a Mediterranean lifestyle as much as I can. I eat pasta almost everyday with a large amount of vegetables and fruits. Cheese and meat I eat at least three times a week but in small portions. Daily exercise is important too.
