Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Beds
The need for relief from back pain is greater than ever before. Fortunately, technology has been created to relieve such bothersome pain: Memory Foam.
Memory foam pillows, mattress and mattress tops perfect example of a huge relief of neck and back problems. Memory foam is heat-sensitive and it's ability to cradle the head and neck is phenomenal. Memory foam works hard to relax muscles. The result is a more restful and peaceful night of sleep.
Finally, you don't have to compromise on comfort due to price. We spent three years testing out memory foam mattresses to find ones that have all the comfort of the "leading brand", but at about 1/2 the price *. Can't believe it? Check out the testimonials from our ecstatic customers at our Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress page. We are excited to present as a new addition to our mattress line (October 2008), the Healthy Foundations 13" Luxe mattress: a softer, more luxurious option (yet still very therapeutic) as compared to our popular 10" therapeutic, firmer memory foam mattress. We are so sure that our mattresses will give you the relief from aches and pains, back pain in the morning, and tossing and turning, that robs you of restful sleep, that we offer an unprecedented 365 day return policy on our mattresses . So you can try for yourself for up to a full year to see if our mattresses help you rest better and feel rejuvenated in the morning. - We Want To Make It Easy To Pick The Right Memory Foam Mattress For You
We know picking a memory foam mattress can be confusing, with some retailers offering a dizzying amount of choices and configurations. We've spent the last few years testing out dozens of memory foam mattresses, to try to find those offering the comfort of the high-end memory foam mattresses at a much lower price. In the end, we came up with two mattresses that we found were head and shoulders above the rest: - Memory Foam Topper Pads
- Do Memory Foam Mattress Topper Pads Really Work?
We've looked at alot of bedding materials, from latex to cotton to wool. And there is just nothing like memory foam and the way it conforms to your body and reduces pressure points. That isn't to say that you would want a whole mattress made just of memory foam. Memory foam is just too soft a material and isn't meant to be supportive. So it works best when layered over a firm, supportive material. That is why you will mainly find memory foam as a 2" or 3" topper to be used on your existing, firm mattress or as a 2" or 3" topping layer in a new mattress.
There are a couple of reasons that memory foam is so unique. One is the way memory foam cells deform when under a load. Unlike standard foams that compress, but want to spring back to their original shape immediately, memory foam cells compress fully and spread their air pressure to adjoining cells. This is because memory foam is an open cell foam, which means the cells of foam have holes in them. This also accounts for the way that memory foam actually reduces pressure points. And this ability of memory foam to deform also allows it to really conform to your body's shape. No other material has this custom shaping type of feeling that you get from memory foam. - Pillows

Tempurpedic Memory Foam?
Tempur-pedic quality!
The basic point you should remember about a Tempurpedic ® mattress is that the base foam used in all their mattresses is firm. So the firmness of a particular Tempurpedic ® mattress depends on the depth and layers of the Tempur memory foam used on top of the base foam. The firmest Tempurpedic mattresses, then, are those that have the thinnest layers of memory foam on them - The OriginalBed by Tempur-PedictmThe ClassicBed by Tempur-PedictmBed by Tempur-Pedictm. If you like a pretty firm mattress and like the feel of the Tempurpedic ®, then these are the two models you should check out. My preference is for The ClassicBed by Tempur-Pedictm - it is a bit more expensive, but has some upgrades over the Original (airflow channels in its base foam and a bit more Tempur foam) that I think make it worth the extra expense.
Comparison of Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress and Toppers to Tempurpedic
We often get people asking us to compare our The Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress or our Healthy Foundations Topper pads to Tempurpedic ®. Especially since our The Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress is 1/2 or so the price of the middle of the Tempurpedic mattress line, and they can save even more by keeping their current mattress and can get the comfort they are looking for by just adding one of our memory foam topper pads to their bed. People want to know how our products stack up to the gold standard in the memory foam business, the Tempurpedic ®, and whether they will come out ahead by saving money on our products or behind since they might save some money but sacrifice getting the comfort they are looking for.And the first thing we tell people is that these are tough questions to answer - because comfort is such a subjective thing and also since we don't know the condition of their current mattress. But we will do our best on this page to give you our take on this. To do so, we've broken this page into two sections - 1) For those of you who need a new mattress, our comparison of our The Healthy Foundations Memory Foam Mattress to the Tempurpedic ®, and 2) For those whose mattress is ok but just overly firm, whether adding our Memory Foam Topper Pad will give you the comfort you are looking for.
How To Tell If You Need A New Mattress?
In general, we tell people that if your current mattress is still pretty firm and supportive, with no apparent dips or compressed areas, and all you just feel that your mattress is overly firm, then our Topper Pads may do the job for you. Our Memory Foam Topper Pads do a good job of making an overly firm mattress much more comfortable.
But if your mattress isn't in good shape or getting on in years (over 3 - 5 years old), you may instead be better served by spending your money toward a new mattress rather than a topper. Many mattress manufacturers put in fairly inexpensive foams and other comfort layers that compress and break down in just a few years. That is we don't recommend adding a topper pad to mattresses much older than 3 years or so. And if your current mattress has any compressed areas or dips, a topper pad will just make these areas even more apparent. In either case, you probably come out ahead spending your money toward a new mattress rather than trying to fix your current one with a topper pad.
Memory Foam
Memory foam is polyurethane with additional chemicals increasing its viscosity and density. It is often referred to as visco-elastic polyurethane foam. In some formulations, it is firmer when cooler. Higher density memory foam reacts to body heat, allowing it to mould to a warm human body in a few minutes. A lower density memory foam is pressure-sensitive and moulds quickly to the shape of the body.
