Baked Ziti with Sausage1 (1-pound) box ziti
1 pound hot turkey Italian sausage
1 cup chopped onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 (14.5-ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
Cooking spray
1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese

Directions for Baked Ziti with Sausage Recipe:

Baked Ziti with Sausage1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
3. Remove the casings from the Italian sausage. In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, onion and garlic until browned. Use a spatula to crumble the sausage as it cooks.
4. To the skillet add the tomato paste, salt, pepper, and tomatoes.
5. Bring to a boil then cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking.
6. In a large bowl; place the pasta, the cooked sausage mixture and basil. Mix until well combined.
7. Coat a large casserole dish with cooking spray. Place half of the mixture into the dish.
8. Top with half a cup of the mozzarella cheese and half a cup of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat for the second layer.
9. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly.
