As human beings endowed with intelligence, we have to take all the necessary measures to protect and maintain our health. Negligence will result in disaster only. It is surprising that with the tremendous development in the science and technology, the health problems too are multiplying. It is like a dog chasing its tale. But our problem is we tend to eat what ever is available or whatever our tongue likes, without taking into consideration the nutritional value it has. The result is a lopsided diet, either too much of carbohydrates or fats, or too less of other vital nutrients which are quite necessary to make the food a balanced diet. The most sensible thing is to consult a doctor and a dietitian to prepare the food chart and follow it scrupulously. And this should be supplemented by adequate physical exercise, ,cultivation of good habits,and a positive mental attitude toward life, which are the essential components of a healthy lifestyle.

The consequences of such imbalanced diet are disastrous for the body, culminating in diseases like obesity, Diabetes, high blood pressure and other horde of avoidable diseases. The direct result of an unbalanced diet and a unhealthy lifestyle is the mother of all diseases, called the obesity. People who are not aware of health and wellness tend to consider obesity as a sign of prosperity. They do not know that a pot-belly is a symptom of disease. Because, it can cause Arthritis, high blood pressure, stroke, Diabetes and other serious health problems.
Besides, an obese person is a target of mockery and ridicule. At school and college, he is a laughing stock, and a source of entertainment at social gatherings. often and often to urinate, but cant empty your bladder. You feel the burning sensation in your bladder and the urinary tract. It is burning and it stinks. What we are talking about is the bladder infection, also known as The Urinary Tract Infection. This is a common problem with most of the women, but very rare in men. As per a survey conducted by a health group, five out of ten women in America suffer from bladder infections at one time or the other in their lives. And many will have one or two in a year. It is generally called as a female disease.

What is the cause for this malady?
Doctors say bacteria called E.coli make the vagina their home and from here they make forays into the urethra. They are not a threat as long as they remain at home. But the trouble starts when they enter the urinary tract. Doctors say these villains normally live in all women. And those who suffer from this infection are not different form those who do not. But those who get the infection are more prone to infection. Doctors say the medical science has not yet given any explanation about this phenomenon.

Bladder infection is the infection of the urine itself. The bacteria cause irritation on the wall of the bladder, and it burns and stinks like hell, making life very uncomfortable for the suffering woman. But there is no cause for any worry. Like the other curable diseases, a lot of research has been done, and remedies worked out to getting over it quickly, and making life less painful and less miserable.

The following tips will help you in getting rid of your problem.
Tip Drink water like a fish: The infected woman usually think if she don't drink she won't have to go the bathroom frequently, so she don't. This is a mistaken notion, and a real trouble maker for her. The fact is quite the reverse. The woman should drink more water and other fluids to lessen the pain and flush out the bacteria, that are causing the inflammation, from the bladder. Moreover it will help in preventing and treating the infection as well. How to know she has drunk enough water. It is very simple. If the color of the urine is white, it means you have enough of it. Otherwise you have not.

Tip Take anti-inflammatory tablets, like aspirin. They help in reducing the inflammation in the bladder; the lesser the inflammation, the lesser is the pain and the burning sensation.

Tip Take hot bath: Doctors say, though there is no scientific reason to do it, a good hot bath relieves pain for many women. They feel fresh and less unpleasant after a hot bath.
Wiping from front to back checks recurring infection. Doctors say the wrong way of wiping is a sure way of getting repeated infections. Wipe "away" the bacteria from the vagina and the opening of the urethra.

Tip Before having intercourse, go to the bathroom: Though this appears ridiculous, it has tremendous medical wisdom. This flushes out the bacteria that may be present in the vagina. Otherwise there is a possibility of the bacteria being pushed into the opening of the urethra, by the penis, during the intercourse.

TipAfter having intercourse, again go to the bathroom: The same wisdom holds good here too.
During the intercourse the penis could probably, had pushed bacteria, present in the opening of the urethra, into the bladder. Urinating will flush out the bacteria from the bladder.

Tip Replace tampons with pads: Doctors say there is no definite reason or evidence as to why certain women are more susceptible to infection. However they have observed that some sort of manipulation involving the vagina; like sex or using the tampon seems to precede the infection. And more sexually active women are also prone to this problem, not because of their sexuality, but because of poor hygiene. Doctors strongly recommend using the pad instead of the tampons, in case of chronic patients.

TipFollow good hygienic practice: Make it a habit of taking bath daily and don't forget to wash and clean the area between the vagina and the rectum. If you don't do it then you run the risk of inviting the ruffians to the danger zone. Always wear cotton underwear for comfort as well as for heath. Avoid using tight fitting pants which prevents the much needed ventilation for your lower body. Always keep your self clean and happy.

Obesity and infertility

Obesity developed in childhood can cause infertility in women .The increased BMI (body mass index) is linked to increased doses of gonadotrophins which induces ovulation, and protracts the number of days of simulation. This adversely affects the quality of the eggs and the fertilization rate.

The Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in case of obese women starts in their childhood and gets fully developed in their teenage years .A research study shows that 40% of such PCOS women are found to be overweight, and some did not have menstrual periods for years. The main cause for this disorder is obesity.
The fatty tissue can convert androgen precursors produced by the ovary and the adrenal glands continuously, disturbing the cyclical changes that occur in the ovary and the endometrium(uterine lining).This process , known as the extra ovarian production of female hormone ,overrides the cyclical phenomenon of ovulation and menstruation

The obese patients are bad risk for anesthesia too, particularly with BMI of 30, as they suffer from the other associated diseases like diabetes, atherosclerosis (a condition in which the fats are deposited in the large and the medium size arteries),breast cancer.

The doctors advise the parents to watch over the eating habits of their children,so that they avoid fast food, and take a balanced, nutritious diet, with a lot of vegetables. This way you can stop him from overeating.

Don't allow him to sit glued to the TV watching some nonsense programs,or playing games on the computer, straining their eyes. Thus about 10 cups of gas is always carried by the body, which is 9 cups more than what it can carry usually. So it tends to find ways to expel the excess air. There are many ways by which the gases come out of the body and one of them is belching.

Doctors say soft drinks and beer are the surer way of getting this problem, but the saliva you swallow also carries bubbles of air to your stomach. Belching is of course definitely curable right at home only, if you follow certain simple tips.

tip Every time you swallow , about 5 ounces of air gets into your GT.Nervous people swallow more air as, comparatively their swallowing reflexes are more than a calm person, and they swallow more saliva. When a high-heeled footwear is worn,the muscles
of the back will become tense to support the
trunk in the unnatural erect position.
This pressurizes the pelvic bone to tip to
an unnatural position,causing pain in the
muscles.
The other probable causes are
1)The Hysterical spine: This refers to the unstable nervous condition of a patient, which allows
mental concentration on the back, resulting in the backache.
2) Physical shock with out any definite injury to the spinal chord.

3) Infections such as acute or chronic tonsillitis, apical (tooth-root) abscesses, gonorrhea, pneumonia
Influenza, Typhoid, Tuberculosis
4) Long illness and surgical operations requiring prolonged bed rest.
5) Neuritis or the inflammation of the nerves: This could happen due to alcoholism, Diabetes,lead
poisoning of the system o
6)Constipation.
The following are some of the tips which
will help you in getting freedom from the
shackles of the backache.
TipTake bed rest for a day or two.
and minimize your physical activities in
case of acute backache.This can be the only
sensible thing you will do in this condition.
A few will be ok and get back to their normal
routine life,but some may need complete rest
for a whole week.
TipMassaging with ice.This will help in
reducing the strain and swellings on the back.
Put the ice pack on the spot of the pain,and
message it gently for 6 to 8 minutes for a
day or two.
TipContinue the ice message
with heat treatment.Put a towel in hot water,
wring it well.Spread it on the clean floor,
without creases.Lie down on your stomach,with
pillows under your hips and ankles.
Cover the painful part of your back with the
folds of the hot towel.
Put the heating pad/bag on the site of the
pain.
TipIce and heat treatment.Those of you
who are not sure which therapy is beneficial to
you,do both of them ,each 30 minutes
alternatively.

Beware of Autism for his sake

More people are becoming aware of Autism these days and although no-one likes to think that their child may have something wrong with them, the number of children diagnosed with Autism seems to have increased over recent years. It is because of the increase in awareness of the disorder that people are learning more about the symptoms of Autism and then may relate them to their own children.

There are many symptoms of Autism and these symptoms will vary from child to child. Some symptoms are also similar to symptoms of other disorders so if your child has one or two symptoms it does not necessarily mean that they have the disorder. So even if your child is slower at some developmental milestones than other children it may not mean that they are Autistic, some children are just later at developing than others.

If you are concerned about your child's development then you should speak to your health care provider who should be able to recommend whether further testing should be considered. There are no blood tests to test for Autism and it can only be diagnosed by several visits with a paediatrician or psychiatrist and so it is important to seek the help of these professionals rather than to self diagnose your child. The earlier that you have your child diagnosed by a professional the better chance of successful treatment for your child.

All children are different and each child will develop at their own rate so don't compare your child with other children and immediately assume that something is wrong with your child because they haven't reached a particular milestone that everyone else's children seems to have reached already. You will find with children also that even though they may reach some milestones later than normal, they may excel at others and reach them much earlier than normal.

As a parent, sometimes you just 'know' that something isn't right. You just know in your heart that your child has something wrong and that it is a bit more than just 'normal late development'. If your gut instinct is telling you that there may be something wrong then by all means consult a doctor and if they don't agree but your gut is still telling you something is wrong then get a second opinion. Don't under estimate a mother's instinct.

If your child is Autistic it can change your life in a big way. You will need to learn as much as you can about the disorder and you will need to change your lifestyle to suit it. Although a diagnosis may take some time, once you have that diagnosis it does bring some measure of relief as you know that there is a reason for your child's behavior and once you know what it is then you can take steps to treat it.

Here are some of the signs of Autism that if your child shows then they may need further evaluation.

1. No eye contact
2. None or minimal communication
3. None or minimal show of emotions
4. They do not pretend play
5. May use repetitive movements
6. Is very upset with any changes in their life or schedule
7. May be unresponsive when spoken to
8. Will have repetitive habits
9. May lose skills that they previously had
10. Experience greater sensory reactions, such as they may be sensitive to certain smells, lights or noises.

If your child shows any of these signs then you may want to seek professional help and get a diagnosis so you can start a treatment plan. Remember though that children do develop differently and some will take a little longer than others and that is completely normal, so don't stress too much over a little delay in reaching a milestone.
