Healthy PEI Local Businesses

Ever wonder who else is striving to be more health conscious on Prince Edward Island? There are many of us. There are also many businesses that offer healthy, organic and local produce, seafoods and services.

Depending on what you are interested in, you can generally find it. Many growers and farmers offer their produce at the Farmer's Market.

Other interesting ways are to hire a classically trained chef to come into your house with a group of friends and learn how to cook with whole foods.

Or enjoy a bowl of healthy choice, award-winning seafood chowder from a local chef who uses no preservatives or additives or anything else you can't pronounce.

Maybe you're having a big party and want to find a caterer who will bring local food products and offer a menu that has been approved and modified by a certified dietitian.

For all of you Islanders out there who want to either start or continue a life with a concentrated effort to cook and eat better... DIG IN!

Please contact Moe @ 902-628-1285 or mkerr123@msn.com for more information. Kindly refer anyone you think would be interested in this lens and/or Maureen's contact info. Thanks!

Healthy PEI Business Owners

People making a difference on PEI

PEI, for many reasons, has some of the highest rates of diabetes, cancer, allergies, obesity and other such ailments and diseases. Canada's smallest province has and probably will continue to receive negative media attention about this.

The business owners below are examples of people making a difference for Islanders to access healthy products and services.

On my agenda over the next few months is to set up a place for other like-minded, health-conscious, people who have accessible products and services available to Islanders. Please keep an eye out for www.HealthyPEI.com and also for my friends and clients which include:

- restaurant owner and whole food chef Stephen Hunter who offers cooking classes and home catering;

- healthy-choice chowder from chef Greg Aitken and www.SpecialtyChowders.com;

- local seafood from Mickey Rose of MR Seafoods;

- home cooking and catering from Dianne Fullerton of Borrowed Kitchen;

- and local and organic produce delivery service from Aaron Koleszar (not my client but someone with a remarkable service worth mentioning);

- macrobiotic cooking with my good friend Sarah Forrester Wendt and her awesome Facebook group "What did you eat today?".

Please contact me for information on any of them. My mission is to spread the word about these guys and gals.
