Diet: Strategies to Help You Stick To That Diet
In this lenses I'm going to go through some strategies that will help you stick to that nutritional plan and healthy lifestyle. Weight loss requires patients and persistence when trying to reach your goals. Dieting is hard, so here are a few tips that can help you stick to it. If you can change you lifestyle to incorporate these tips you will be successful in losing weight and keeping it off. Weight loss is just a bonus. Living a healthy life, while hard at first, increases your ability to do the activities you love while you age. Most Americans underestimates the number of calories they eat every day by 600-800 calories. Following some of these guidelines will help to cut back on some of those calories.

Some Simple Strategies:
1. Reduce Fat intake:
- Read food labels. Look for "low fat", "nonfat" and "reduced fat" claims on the package.
- Choose lean meats. Fish and poultry are good choices. Only eat 5-7oz per day.
- Chose skim or 1% milk
- Try using low fat cheeses
- Try the low fat versions of margarine and salad dressings. Trade your ranch for a vinaigrette
2. When preparing foods:
- Trim off all visible fat
- Refrigerate soups, gravies, and stews, then remove visible fat before eating.
- Bake, broil, or grill meats on a rack that allows the fat to drip away from the meat.
- Use lemon juice and herbs/spices on cooked vegetables instead of cheese, butter, or cream-based sauces.
