Why crash diets never work

If you're like I used to be, you'll have tried loads of different crash diets and fad weight loss schemes. Some of them do make you lose weight in the short term, some don't make any difference at all, but in all cases you will pile the weight back on when you finish. Why is this? And is there any way around it? Does this happen with all crash diets?
Research has shown again and again that crash diets do not work, and will cause you to gain weight overall. The reason for this is not immediately clear as it seems tempting to lose lots of weight quickly, but it is in fact because when you stop eating you slow down the rate at which your body can "process" foods. Then when you stop the crash diet, your body can't burn off the calories as quickly as it used to and you gain more weight than you lost in the first place.
As this problem is due to the nature of the crash diet programs and not the individual programs themselves, this is the results of any crash diet. There simply is no way around it, unless you ate the amount of food the crash diet recommends forever which would of course be extremely unhealthy and cause you many more problems in the long run.
The only way to reliably lose weight in the long run is through healthier eating and regular exercise. Of course, this sounds boring and will put a lot of people off straight away. The good news is there are many ways you can go about losing weight, and it is possible to make it seem natural and not at all like a chore. You might have heard that celery actually burns more calories than you consume while eating it, which is pretty amazing. The down side is that not many people really enjoy eating celery, even if it is a good addition to your weight loss efforts.
But did you realise that there are many more foods that will burn off more calories than you consume by eating them? There are in fact a huge number of fat burning foods, and the list is so large that you will almost certainly be able to find some that you actually enjoy eating.
It is important to point out that these fat burning foods should not form the basis of our diet, but are a very useful to add to your meals or snacks when you want to burn calories but also be satisfied with the amount you've eaten.
