Heart Dollar Origami - What a clever idea! Perfect for Grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles.

Grandparents and parents - is giving money as a gift a bit boring? With a little bit of creative origami you can transfer that money into a heart as a fun way to show your love.

Giving money as a gift is something we often resort to as our kids get older. Put a bit of love and a surprise into that gift with a few simple origami folds.

There are several different ways to create hearts from dollars with origami. Keep yours as simple or intricate as you like.

This is my favourite video for origami dollar hearts. You can skip the small detailed folds in the middle of the note if it is too fiddly and you will still have a lovely heart.

It's fun to be able to fold origami dollar hearts, but what do you do with it afterwards?

Here are a few ideas ...
  • Valentines Day gift - Our kids can outgrow the cutesy part of Valentines day quickly but I don't think they will complain about a card with money.
  • Birthday gift - Aunts, uncles and grandparents frequently give money as a gift especially if they live far away. Tucking a few dollars into a card is a practical gift that can be jazzed up with some heart dollar origami.
  • Weddings - Instead of pinning money on a bride, pin a dollar heart instead. Or how about threading the hearts onto some thread or thin needlepoint yarn to make a heart necklace?

This is another great how-to. It isn't strictly origami if you use tape, but if you are simply looking for a fun and pretty way to give money as a gift then why not!

I also love the way she uses three notes and adheres them decoratively to the inside of the card.
