Martha Stewart Heart Punch

It's important to note and consider that each punch will give you 2 useful results. You'll get a nice heart shaped hole in your paper, but you'll also get a perfect punched out paper heart.

With decorative designed punches, you may have LOTS of little loose hearts. Think about it. Each separate hole punched in the paper will result in a small paper heart. Those can be used in lots of ways or even for heart confetti.

Paper Shapers Medium Punch - Double Heart


Very neat idea to make a punch that cuts out 2 paper hearts at once. The inner hearts can be pasted to the paper, while the punched out shape will leave a nice design in the paper.

Here's a card we decorated using our heart punches. The base card is 9"x6" folded in half (with this size you get exactly 2 pieces out of a 9'x12" piece of construction paper). The large hearts are about 2" at the widest part and the smaller ones are about 1".

Although I've only layered 2 pieces here (heart over the white greeting), I usually layer more pieces to create depth and interest on the card. Paper is 2 dimensional, but there are lots and lots of things you can do to create depth and layers. Craft punches and embossers are excellent tools for accomplishing this goal.
