Great to see some exposure on cohousing.
What a wonderful way to live!

What a thrill it is to stumble across this lens tonight, then to see this discussion topped it like sparklers on a cake. Thank you for lensrolling some of my sustainable community lenseslease consider joining the Building Ordinary group.

Heartwood makes its decisions by consensus too. It was something that I wondered about too. It turned out to be a good move for me and I like the consensus model. It takes a longer time to get to a decision sometimes, but many times that decision is a better one than I woudl have made on my own.

My town has a coho as well. I think they do more common stuff than you describe. I thought about joining unitl I learned that they make all the community decisions by consensus. Knowing myself and some of the people who currently live there make me living there impossible. I'm just too much of a doer.

Legally it is set up as a condominium. Each person owns their own house and land. The real purpose behind the community is to choose community. I knew my neighbors hear better after 4 months than I ever knew my neighbors at my previous home. And I had lived there for 6 years.

This is a great way to get community.

What a lovely community you have. I wonder what "cohousing" means. Is it similar to "co-op" housing?
