Heavy metal music is often misunderstood and I always wonder why anyone would bother explaining it in the first place. If you feel it, then enjoy it. If not, I guess loud music at breakneck speed just isn't for you. Anyway, having been a heavy metal fan of many sub genres for years, I have also been fascinated by the different types of heavy metal merchandise available, especially the ghastly graphics and designs.

Heavy metal clothing and clothes are one of the most recognisable badges for any fan. If you see someone wearing a band t-shirt, you can be sure that 90% of the time this guy is a huge metal fan. Obviously, the band shown on the shirt would tell you what genres he or she likes, and definitely which particular metal band he or she loves.
Of course, there are people who get these heavy metal clothes for free or they picked it somewhere, or simply just like the look and cool factor associated (depending on how you look at it!), but on the most part, if you are wearing heavy metal clothing, it is hard not to think you are a fan.
