Heckava Haiku

I Self Published Heckava Haiku

In 2009 I rediscovered Haiku. By the end of the year I had written 366 haiku and decided it would be fantastic to publish it into a paperback book. That book is called Heckava Haiku. You can find it later in this lens.

In 2010 I learned about a Poet Called Masaoka Shiki. He died at a very young age, but was able to write 25,000 haiku in that short life. I made a goal to write at least 25,000 haiku. By the end of 2010 I had written about 800. I have a long way to go.

2011 I decided to post one haiku for every day of the year here on this lens. Make sure you favorite it so you can read all the new haiku I am going to post. I look forward to succeeding with this project. I hope you enjoy reading them.

I started Posting on My Haiku Blog

I have found that I can Post in Many Places

When I started to find more WiFi spots throughout my town, I found that I can post more haiku on my blog from my iPod. I have started to post there more often and will continue to do so as long as the inspiration continues to drive me to write. Enjoy the following.

Haiku 24-31

January 24-31, 2011

Jessie on the swingHow to get my guys
To step up and work faster
So I can look good

I laid next to her.
Fell asleep on the carpet
but she stopped wining

Brother and Sister
Happy to see each other.
Lots of butt sniffing

Found my SLR.
It's like seeing an old friend
After years apart

It's hard to believe
I will only be working
One job and not two.

It can't be a fluke.
Super success for one day.
I must be that good.

Only took three years
to climb the career ladder.
I feel successful.

Decisions to make.
Which of them is the right one.
I must choose better.

Haiku 19-23

January 19-23, 2011

Work follows me home,
Even when I'm not working.
Sucks to be the Boss

On the cold pavement
I release the drain pan plug
And oil flows out.

Sleep gets in my way.
It takes up time I could use
To do my writing.

Chasing Memory
Into the depths of my brain.
It's dusty back there.

She's asking again.
This time I think I will loose
The puppy battle

Discovered them on YouTube.
I want to Grow Some.

Haiku 7-12

January 7-12, 2011

Saw a Sewer Cat
With a Healed Broken Back
Slide Down a Storm Drain

Need to sit and Write
Several Haiku to Submit
For Publication

Three Shifts in a Row
That is What I'm Looking at
I Will be Tired

Don't Think I'll Make It.
Will Fall Asleep Before My
Head Hits the Pillow

It is Fun to Watch
When There is Snow All Day Long
Covering the Ground

I Called all the Guys.
Only Hal of Them Answered.
Tonight will be Rough.

Two Thousand Pieces
And Five Guys to Put Them Up.
We Finished by Nine.

Haiku 4-6

January 4-6, 2011

I took a misstep
Leg slipping in the abyss
Leaving a black bruise.

Running like clockwork;
This new day is a blessing;
Unlike yesterday.

Saw a sewer cat
With a healed broken back
Slide down a storm drain.

Haiku 1-3 for 2011

January 1-3, 2011

Searching far and wide;
Hunting creativity.
It's alluding me.

Chewed out this morning.
Need to be more organized;
More like a leader

Planning out my day.
There's a time for everything
To get it all done.

Fantastic. Thanks for writing one. Make sure you participate in my "National 10 Haiku Per Day Month" Lens. You have only 14 more days to write your haiku and submit one per day. The best ones will be published in an Anthology and the proceeds will go to the charity called "Room to Read". It is a great chance to see your creative work go into print and help a bunch of children.

Wow! Sounds like a lot of fun! I have in fact just written another one! I told you I was going to become a Haiku addict! Thanks! hehe.... I will check out the challenge. How many Haiku do I need to write for it? 10 per day for the whole month? So I need to write about 300 in the next 2 weeks?? :) Maybe I misunderstood...
  • MarianaFargasch Mar 17, 2011 @ 3:53 pm | delete
Love it, thanks for the video! So that is what Haiku is all about, 5, 7, 5! I want to make an attempt but am afraid of becoming addicted like everything else I do :)
