Hello world.  My name is Damon.  I am a full time math teacher, occasional blogger, and newly obsessed lensmaster.

In this lens I talk about my interests, my other lenses and my blog.

So scroll down to see places I've lived and other useless trivia from my life...

I-Poly High School: My Day Job

I teach 11th grade math at International Polytechnic High School. Our school is on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona. To be more specific, our campus is on Parking Lot K.

It's true. We teach in permanent portables. We are supposed to have a building by 2010.

You can learn more at our official site.

Obsessed Lensmaster

I joined Squidoo on April 14, 2006. Since then I've been asked to be a Citizen Squid, my lenses have won awards and I've launched a $10,000 fundraiser for Room to Read.

Harry Potter Fan(atic)

Here are links to a random sample of my Harry Potter lenses.

What is your opinion of public education in the US today? Are you supporting the teacher's union and their anti-vouchers stance? What is your ideas on improving our public education system? I appreciate an insight from the inside. Thanks.

    Lookey what I found!

Lol, saw your post on MySpace, thought I'd give Squidoo a shot. I got one up on anime. Didn't seem to be much in the way of quality content, so maybe I'll have a shot.

Anywho Mr. H, what're you gunna be up to this summer? :)

Flickr Photos of Utah

I miss the mountains of Utah so here are some photos. (At least if the Flickr Picker works.) I have no idea who any of the people are that appear in these pictures.

Places I've Lived

I was born in Brigham City, Utah, and have not been back since... Here are some other places I've lived.
  • I spent the first two years of my life in Redlands, California. If you believe my mother I was almost eaten by a lizard...
  • While my dad was getting his PhD, we lived in Provo, Utah. This was when my sister and I refused to get in a police car because we weren't supposed to talk to strangers. But it all worked out well...
  • We lived a while in the Washington, D.C. area. Our first stop was Arlington, Virginia and we ended up in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Nothing funny happed. But we did have to move suddenly and change our names. I never did get the whole story...(Just kidding.)
  • I went to High School in Orem, Utah. The only interesting thing that happened is that my English teacher threw an eraser at me, and hit me! I think she might have been aiming at someone else. I would have never caused any trouble...
  • I lived in Argentina and Uruguay for two years. I moved around a lot because I was either a CIA agent or a Mormon missionary. I'll let you figure out which...
  • I returned to find my parents had moved to Provo, Utah. I think they were trying to lose me. But I found out where they moved and managed to get a copy of the house key...
  • During the summers I lived in Livermore, California. Nothing funny happened...
  • I now live somewhere in Southern California. Again nothing funny has happened since my life is really boring. (Actually I'm running out of time and haven't thought of anything.)

Recently Read Books

Here are some books I have read recently. Since the midterm election is coming up I have been reading a lot about politics...

Crashing the Gate: Netroots, Grassroots, and the Rise of People-Powered Politics

Written by the creators of DailyKos and MyDD. Describes the decline of the Democratic Party over the last few decades and what is needed to revitalize it over the next few years.

Painting the Map Red: The Fight to Create a Permanent Republican Majority

Written by talk radio's Hugh Hewitt. Outlines a plan to create a permanent Rebulican Majority at all levels of government

Squid Addiction

Here are some lenses for fellow Squidoo addicts.
SquidJunkie
Take a quiz to see if you have Squiditus. I scored a 6 out of 10 which means I probably need help.
I Am On "Squid-Row" for Life
This is a Squidictionary full of terms that might catch on here in Squid-Space. I've contributed two terms, Squidomain and Squid Squatter. We'll see if they turn up.

eBooks about Squidoo

I signed up as an affiliate for two e-books. Both look promising if you have a business to promote using Web 2.0. Both authors have done extensive research so you don't have to.

I have not, yet, thoroughly read their materials. When I do I will post my review here. My initial impression is that they have valuable information for the existing business that wants to expand onto the internet.

What if you don't have a business?

My opinion is if you're searching for a money making opportunity online, these e-books are probably not worth $47.00.

How's that for a sales pitch. . .

To any of my students who happen to discover my lens:

Do not, under any circumstances, visit my Harry Potter lenses or vote in the polls. If you do you will be severely punished.
