I saved heirloom seed of pumpkins, cucumbers, peppers and pumpkins this year. But I will try to save more next year, specially from tomatoes, I didn't know of method you described in lens, but it seems excellent.

I'm just getting into this. Some friends gave me some heirloom pumpkins, so I saved the seeds to try planting.

Great Information. I just purchased some heirloom tomatoes. Plus a few vegetables I had never heard of. Time to get planting.

We grew a selection of heirloom beans 2 years ago, and saved some seeds to plant. The mixed dried beans we saved for food make delicious baked beans. We have seeds from an heirloom pumpkin that we dried last fall. They'll be planted in our garden this spring. Can't wait to see how they do, how well they resist squash bugs, disease and so on.

    Hi there Steve,
This is a great lens. My first set of Tomato seeds were scooped from supermarket ones. I have started keeping the seeds, and also collecting them from varieties I liked. This lens will be added to the featured Growing Techniques Lenses on the All About Growing Food Group. Thanks for joining the group.

I should really buy some heirloom seeds for tomatos.

When I was a kid, the tomatos were so much tastier than today's.

Thanks for this lens. Very interesting and complements my lens on non-hybrids.
http://www.squidoo.com/heirloom-non-hybrid-seeds although my lens needs a bit more work!
