WIEN (VIN) = VIENNA. This big party, LIFE BALL, is being held to raise AIDS and HIV awareness. The City Hall of Vienna (Rathaus) is the venue of this great party and prominent visitors are expected. Ex-President Bill Clinton is always present or represented to receive the net proceeds of the Life Ball. For 2011, the organizers collected EUR 1,900.000. National and international AIDS and HIV Projects will benefit from this money. ROSE BALL
Every February of each year, Rose Ball is being flambouyantly celebrated parallel to the traditional Opera Ball being held at the State Opera. Participants wear lavish and extravagant clothes (out-of-this-world fashion) whereas the Opera Ball male participants wear the Tuxedo and ladies wear white ball gowns. The State Opera is decorated with expensive flower arrangements and the next day, I will be one of the people gathering the flowers because the gardeners will throw them all away.
