You CAN Feel Better From Fibromyalgia, But You Must Do Something Different!

So, you have fibromyalgia, and it's making you miserable. I get that. I used to have fibromyalgia too.

I remember being in so much pain I didn't want to go anywhere or do anything.

I remember wanting to sleep all the time, but still waking up in the middle of the night.

I remember burning skin and throbbing headaches and feeling like my body was full of needles and nails and trying to relax and self-massage and it not doing any good..

I remember feeling like fibromyalgia was killing me, and maybe that wouldn't be so bad if it would just GET ON WITH IT!

If this is what you are going through right now, you need some hope.

This lens was written to give you hope.

I Reversed Fibromyalgia

leg and hip muscles - all of it is covered with fasciaIt took me almost 6 years, but I did it. And I like to think that if I had known in the beginning what I know now, I could have done it in much less time.

These are the kind of things that I didn't know then, but that I do know now, that would have helped me reverse it earlier if I had known:

  • My thoughts about anything and my beliefs about my body are important to how healthy my body feels and is

  • My emotions are indicators as to if my thoughts are messing my body up, or allowing it to heal.

  • When I feel bad emotionally (worried, anxious, fearful, frustrated, angry) I am harming my body

  • Stress chemicals and healing chemicals explain most of this - when I think thoughts that make me feel bad, my body releases stress chemicals, which circulate and harm my tissues. When I think thoughts that make me feel good, my body releases soothing and healing chemicals that allow me to heal

(why does it do this? because from an evolution standpoint, those stress chemicals are meant to help you escape great and immediate danger by providing you with energy, and the running or fighting you did would use it all up so it wouldn't get stuck in your tissues ... the soothing or good chemicals are triggered when your soothing or good thoughts provide your body the all-clear signal, so your body will only start healing once it knows you are safe - because healing takes up resources)

  • The main tissue that causes my pain is called fascia. It covers every muscle, muscle fiber, tendon, ligament, NERVE, blood vessel, and ORGAN in my body.

  • fascia shortens with rest, so anytime I sleep or sit or stand still my fascia shortens a bit. that's why I feel extra creaky first thing in the morning

  • the older we get, generally, the more or fascia shortens - this explains old-age

  • Injuries of any sort, if not properly attended to, can create major issues in the fascia

  • a kink in one part of the fascia can and usually does create pain IN A DIFFERENT PART of the body - this is huge. This is why, if your feet hurt, and you rub them, it doesn't help - because the problem is in YOUR HIPS or somewhere else.

  • When fascia gets short, tight, constricted, full of stress chemicals and scar tissue, and injured, our body spends every minute trying to fix the condition, and this is why I was so tired all the time - my body never rested

Two Major Things You Must Do Different To Treat Fibromyalgia

chronic pain barbie1) You must start figuring out how to feel good most of the time.

If you feel good, that means you are thinking thoughts that feel good, and that means your body is getting to go ahead to start the healing process.

    2) You must start taking care of your body in ways that nurture and heal the fascia

... actually I believe you don't even need to do number 2 because if you could do number 1 perfectly, your body could heal itself just fine (over time, of course).

But I still can't do number 1 perfectly, and I've been trying for 7 years. So, if we can't do number 1 perfectly because we are human, then if we learn how to take care of our body we can still make huge strides while we are working on number 1.

How to Feel Emotionally Good More of the Time

Sometimes I like to say that I think the almost-6 years it took me to heal fibromyalgia was actually the time that it took me to go from emotionally feeling anxious, fearful, resentful, worried, distracted, frustrated, and angry most of the time to feeling happy, calm, relaxed, excited, joyful, and passionate most of the time.

How did I do it? Many ways - and it wasn't easy. I had to make a major effort, and those old ways and old paths built into my brain still get the better of me sometimes.

I know it's worth it though for 2 reasons:

    1) I feel good and happy most of the time :) that in itself is a huge 'reward'. It's nice to love life and feel good. It's not nice, it's wonderful. Now, when I feel bad, I am practically desperate to get back to feeling good again.

    2) I recently have had experiences where I have thought something negative or adversarial about someone, and I have instantly FELT the adrenaline and cortisol squirting into my neck muscles. I have FELT muscles feeling good one second, and the next second those same muscles feeling shaky and painful and quivering. It's not worth it.

I take great care of my emotional state these days. It's the most valuable thing I have. It means everything to me because if I don't feel good, I can't function. If I can't function, why am I here?

I have written a book called 30 Days to Feel Better from Fibromyalgia. It outlines and details everything I think is important to do to incrementally feel better from fibromyalgia. It slowly introduces each of my best mental and physical exercises that helped me and have helped others to get a handle on their pain and emotional issues.

How to Nurture and Take Care of Your Fascia so It Can Heal

I do and did lots of things to take care of my fascia:

Things I used to do and still do:

    Self-Trigger Point Massage

    Stretching

Try to limit sugar in my diet

Things I have done but don't still do, generally

    Guaifenesin Protocol

    Low-Carb Diet

Tried a whole bunch or supplements

I think that Stretching and self-trigger point massage are the most important things you can do, along with transforming your emotions.

My FAVORITE Stretch to Recover from Horrible Fibromyalgia Pain and Flares

AND to Treat and Heal Firbomyalgia

This is one of the 3 MAIN stretches that helped me reverse fibromyalgia. There was a point when I was doing this and two other stretches for an hour and 40 minutes EVERY day.

I believe that the reason it is so valuable is it stretches the psoas and the other hip and inner thigh muscles and allows for complete relaxation, especially after you've been doing it for a while (your body learns to relax when you enter into it). The hip muscles were my worst group of muscles to heal - the hardest to heal, the longest to heal, and the ones that needed the most attention. They throw everything else off.

this stretch is pure gold for anyone with any pain, in my opnion.

    Yoga Neck Stretch for Fibromyalgia

I like this stretch because the neck muscles (actually, the fascia surrounding the neck muscles and fascia) are huge problems in almost everyone with fibromyalgia.

HOWEVER, if you aren't used to stretching and you get too aggressive with your neck or aren't familiar with what stretch sensations mean in your body, you can really hurt yourself. I gave myself some blinding headaches in year 1 of my recovery trying to do stretches like these before I had a sense of what my body needed and what the sensations I was feeling meant.

Go slow, go easy, don't stretch at more than a 2 with 0 being no sensation and 10 being pain and 5 being a medium stretch. Really.

I am just coming out of a bad bout with fibro. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago, but in retrospect, I think I've had it since I was a teenager. I think my parents also had it and my kids are already showing signs of it. I am stiff, sore, fatigued, I have allergies, am sensitive to light and noises. The pain sometimes is so excrutiating that I can't even lift myself off the couch. I am an overachiever, so I don't know how to rest or calm down. I always have to stay busy, that's why it's so very hard when I have a bad bout. It forces you slow down. I have quit smoking, gave up carbs and still feel like crap.

Can You Believe that Fibromaylgia Can Be Fixed or Cured or Treated or Reversed

Can you or do you believe that fibro can be treated effectively?

    Loading

I want to believe, but I'm not quite there yet ...

    YayasHome says:

I'd love to believe that Fibromyalgiamyofacial Pain Syndrome can be healed. I do feel that eating and exercise habits can have a major affect on Fibromyalgia an' many other illnesses, but in the case of Fibro, my un'erstan'ing is that it is a type of arthritis. To my knowledge, there is no known cure for any types of arthritis.

However, we do live in a world of miracles an' I b'lieve that miracles can happen with anything. How we treat our bodies can be an important factor in whether or not we are recipients of those miraculous healing events.

That said, I am open to the possibility that Fibromyalgia is as relevant to healing as anything else that is being studied an' improved within the medical sphere.

    pam says:

I don't think fibro can be treated or cured, I do believe there are things we can do to help get thru the horrible curse tho! Loads of sleep and better eating habits along with exercise.

YES! Fibro can be reversed! I CAN feel better!

    Centavo says:

From what you just presented it would appear so. Thank goodness!

    Natural_Skin_Care says:

Yes, with the right treatments and time you can reverse it. I know people who have gotten better.

    NYtoSCimjustme says:

I have done it - So I know it can be done. Wonderful advice and suggestions to get others started on the road to recovery. You Don't HAVE to accept being sick. You can make the choice to be pain free!

    ToTheBrimm says:

I hope so. It's really hard to understand when you're not the one feeling the pain.

    Important!

    The Most Important Thing

The Most important thing is learning to relax, and feel good, and learning how to SELF TREAT your muscles and fascia.
