Drug Addiction & Alcoholism Help in Washington State

There are many options on how to get help with an addiction. An addiction can be to alcohol, any kind of drug, a morning cereal, money, cigarettes or cigars, video games...There are many many addictions.
Some people have an addictive personality. Those people can become addicted to anything. Reading, cereal, drugs, alcohol, sex, certain music, a certain brand of shoes or clothes...People can become addicted to anything!
If you are addicted to reading or cereal, chances are they will not hurt you or your lifestyle. If you are addicted to something serious, it can & will affect your health, your sanity, your lifestyle, your life in general. It may even take your life.
A good measuring stick to see if you have an addiction is to go without for a specific length of time. A day, a week, a month, 4 days, 6 weeks. Any amount of time. If it does not bother you to give up that thing, chances are you are not addicted. If you are jonesing for a "fix" of what you gave up, chances are you are addicted.
If you are addicted to alcohol & dont' believe it, go without for a specific amount of time. You will go back to drinking. You may go back in a few minutes, a few hours, a few days, all the way up to a few years. If you are an alcoholic, when you start drinking again, the disease will not pick up where it left off, it will act as if no time has gone by.
Another way to see if you are an addict, listen to yourself talk. "I can quit anytime I want to!" is a common expression. The truth is you can't. Your addiction has you in its grasp.
