Yak Trax ?
The first time I saw Yak Trax was in a mail order catalog. Normally I would have just flipped the page, but my girlfriend (now wife) and I love to hike, which is a little difficult in the winter - especially with the ice. So after a few minutes I thought they would make an unusual stocking stuffer, and ordered 2 pair.
Over 10 winters later, we are still slipping our Yak Trax over our sneakers (or boots) and walking on ice as if it wasn't even there. The biggest bonus is now that we have kids, when I take them sleigh riding I can pull them down the iciest hills without wiping out and getting hurt (or covered in snow). I am also able to walk back up the same hill, pulling them in their sleds, without a single slip (while the other parents around me spend more time sliding down the hill than their kdis do).
Never fear walking on ice, or packed snow again.
What the heck are Yak Trax?
And how are they going to keep me from falling on ice!

How the YakTrax Pro Works
The YakTrax Pro will give you the same solid, predictable grip you are accustomed to feeling on dry surfaces. Unlike other shoe traction devices, YakTrax will not damage carpets or most flooring material.
When you walk or run, the scientifically engineered horizontal and vertical coils place hundreds of biting edges in direct contact with the ice beneath your feet. YakTrax create a solid grip by way of their exclusive SkidLock coil system. As you step, each tiny SkidLock coil presses downward, becoming embedded into the ice below. As you transfer your weight onto your foot, hundreds of SkidLock surfaces squeeze into the ice providing you with stability in all directions: forward, backward and side-to-side. When you lift your foot, the SkidLock coil system stays snugly with your shoe, offering unhindered ease of movement.
You will move about naturally. There's nothing new to learn, just walk as you normally would and experience stability on ice and snow like you have never felt before.
We decided to become distributors for this great product after we bought them for ourselves and our moms and experienced the joy of walking naturally on the ice. Now we exercise, play with our kids and just walk without worry of falling and getting hurt. This past winter, I was able to walk up an icy slope, pulling both twins on their sleds, without slipping.
