Help, I need somebody...
It was exactly one month before I published my first lens. In my attempt I visited as many lenses as possible not knowing who anyone was or their levels. I just needed help from somebody, anybody.

A Plea for Help
It's ok to ask for help.
One of the things I do is encourage my students to ask for help when they need it. Sometimes we have a difficult time admitting that we need assistance in something, and we may even feel it is a sign of weakness. But if God tells us that we don't have because we don't ask, then there is something to it.I learned quickly that if I didn't ask questions I wouldn't get very far in life. The people that make up the community here at Squidoo are eager to help by answering any questions you may have pertaining to making quality advertising lenses. So don't be shy. Ask.
If you have any questions or want advice on your lens, visit the SquidU forum. I try to visit it each day to learn as well as give back to the community of helpers.

That was a motto I heard from an advertizing company years ago. The slogan is still true for anyone who wants to call themselves part of a team. If Squidoo looks good to the public, it is because of dedicated people who take time out of their busy day to look at other people's lenses. I am very appreciative of that.

Link A Picture using Text with Big Photo
People have asked this so much I thought it might help someone if I put this here also.
1. Select the product you want in the Amazon module like you normally do. When you see the product instead of adding it to that spot click on the picture. It will open you up to Amazon itself.
2. Using the right side (right click) of your mouse, click on the big picture on Amazon that is on the left side of the page.
3. Click on the "save picture as" (it will send it to your computer). Don't add anything to it as a description. Just let whatever comes up be how it is saved.
4. Stay there...now go up to the URL on the Amazon page that is showing the picture you just saved to your computer. Click on it so it comes up all blue. Copy it. (push "control c" at the same time on your computer).
5. Go directly to your text with big picture, click on brouse and get your photo. Push/click upload and then save it. Make sure it takes you back to your page.
6. Go back into the same text with big picture and in the URL box paste the info you copied from the Amazon URL. (push "control v" on your computer.)
7. Push/click upload. It will come up yellow that it can't take it. Don't push it again. It's ok. Now push save.
8. Go and see if it worked.

I used a Firefox Add-On called Key-gen It looks at the keywords on any site and gives you a list ranked by repeat, weight, and postition. (forum 12/22/11 from OldStones)
If you enter your complete URL into the Website section of the GoogleKeyword Tool, it will show you what Google sees as your main keyword phrase. You may need to make some adjustments. (from Dee in the Help Please forum 12/22/11)

Forum tip 2/3/2011 from Spirituality & Tipi
I was wondering when to make my own lensography when daedrea asked the same question. Here is the answer:10 lenses is quite enough. Make a lensography for every topic you write about. These days though lensographies using the my lenses and featured lenses modules won't help much with search engines. Use link list modules or HTML links to get that part of the story working. How Do I Make a Link? (edited from Flynn_the_Cat in the Help Me forum 2/4/12)If it's on your lens, you want this code:
You add a link, and whatever words you want to show up (e.g. the URL, or 'click here' or 'check out this awesome site') into that code: words to appear to the readerWhat's a backlink?
A back link is, literally, a link 'back' to a page. So a backlink to your lens is one from somewhere else - whether it's in a blog post, on twitter, a forum signature, whatever. Generally, it's good to have a few (say three or four), but don't stress over it. You want links to be from as relevant and trustworthy a site as possible, and you can't usually make these happen.
What do points do?
Nothing. Well, nothing concrete. They're there to encourage you and act as a guide around Squidoo, by letting you know about modules and things you can do. Occasionally perks and quests are unlocked.
Do I have to do the quests?
Nope. They're time limited and they'll disappear after a while. Sometimes they're fun, sometimes they give you ideas, sometimes it is just HQ trying to encourage people to try something, or write about a topic they think will be 'big' and they want to promote.

What are tags? Are they the same as keywords?
Tags are internal labels for lenses. Keywords are just... any words that people might use to search for something. Some are obviously 'better' than others, but that is basically all they are. But when people talk about keywords, they mean 'words to use in your writing somehow'. Tags can be keywords, but they're not the same thing.
A good tag is just one that other lenses are using and is related to your lens.
I'm getting comments, but I can't find them on my lens!
If your guestbook modules are set to Approve (and they should be, spam is bad and it WILL turn up) then you can find your pending comments on your dashboard here http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/comments
You can also look for the module link in your email or go into the lens itself and edit the module.
Duel comments and plexos must be edited/approved inside the module.
Poll comments do NOT show up if you have already voted and this is really annoying.
I'm getting a message about my lens being spam!
1. Relax, it's an automated message.
2. Read all the options and see what it might be.
3. Remember it's a computer filter, not a person, it might be something major or it might be something really stupid, like it thinking a site you linked to looks spammy, or you used the word 'breasts' or 'poker'.
