10 Steps to a Better Nights Sleep
- Try to arise at the same time every day. This will give your system a sleep pattern.
- Sleep in a cool dark room. This will help you to sleep soundly.
- Have a warm bath or shower before going to bed. Lowering ones body temperature has been proven to help sleep.
- Drink a cup of warm milk. Milk contains tryptophan which will make you feel sleepy.
- Add the scent of lavender to your room. Lavender has been proven to induce sleep.
- Distract repetitive thought with an easy listening radio station. This will help you shut off your thoughts so that you can sleep.
- Avoid napping in the day.If you must nap, keep it to 30 to 45 minutes.
- If you can't sleep...get up! Do something until you are tired enough fall asleep.
- Try to maintain a consistent bedtime. This will give your body a pattern to follow.
- Listen to relaxation sounds or music. Nature sounds are great for relaxation.

Insomnia is a symptom of any of several sleep disorders, characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep despite the opportunity. Insomnia is a symptom, not a stand-alone diagnosis or a disease.
