A little planning goes a long way
Most of the time, parents are so busy that there's barely time to prepare a proper meal at home. So over time, children have gotten used to eating junk food and fast food in lieu of healthy meals. However, it's not too late to make changes in your home and introduce healthy weight loss for kids. All it takes is a little planning.
Start out slow, start out small
Depending on how receptive your children are, getting them to eat their fruits and vegetables can be tricky. Start out slow, and increasingly incorporate fruits and vegetables into the foods that they eat. If your child is not used to eating his peas, making him eat that and other vegetables all at once can backfire on you. Pack a fruit with his lunch, or put carrot sticks instead of cookies. You can also substitute fruit juice with chocolate milk. Do this and little by little, your child will get used to eating healthily.
Be the master of disguise
Unfortunately, sometimes you have to play tricks on your children. Everybody wants their food to look good, but children want theirs to be fun. And vegetables just aren't what fun lands are made of. To trick your children into eating healthily, be a master of disguise. Make cartoon faces with vegetables. Make meal times a form of play time, and incorporate vegetables as part of the game. When children perceive vegetables to be fun, they will eat them. And the sooner they eat their vegetables, the sooner they can become healthier.
Be a model
If you want healthy weight loss for kids, you have to be healthy yourself. No, you don't have to be the super parent that eats only fruits and vegetables and hits the gym regularly. But you have to do what you want them to. If you want them to finish your vegetables, finish yours. This is particularly helpful for smaller children since they normally copy what you do.
