The Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation Relocation Fund

The Butte County Board of Supervisors has given The Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation until October of 2010 to relocate. A new property has been found, however meeting the October 2010 deadline to completely relocate all of the animals presents a tremendous challenge. It is estimated that about $250,000 will be needed to build enough enclosures to house the current resident animals at the new facility. If this October 2010 deadline is not met they will be forced to close the sanctuary. Many animals which currently reside at the Kirshner Foundation have special medical needs and finding homes for each and every one of these animals may be impossible. The animals that cannot be placed will face euthanasia. We must not let this happen.

These animals have the potential to inspire minds and to change lives! They are but a few of the natural wonders that we are close to losing forever.

The Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation is home to a variety of non-releasable & exotic animals.

One thing that sets The Kirshner Foundation apart from the majority of other wildlife facilities is that they care for animals with special medical needs. Approximately 75% of the resident animals have one or more medical conditions that keep them from being releasable and require constant monitoring and care.

This is a partial list of the animals currently being housed at the facility. A complete list, as well as bios on each animal can be found at www.kirshner.org.
