What is and how can I control an Addiction/Habit?

Help with food addiction for life....Start fresh now!

Addiction or Habit? BOTH!

Physical or Emotional addiction? BOTH (mostly Emotional)

Not only was a massive Binge eater with a massive need for help with food addiction but I was also an awful SMOKER, the two addictions mix quite nicely together until I wanted change....Then disaster struck home.....what was I going to do?

Fortunately I had tried to stop Smoking before (about 50 times, 20 serious ones) but I knew this time I wanted to Stop and so finally I did, but with this addiction I felt the Physical addiction that I was fighting at all times.

BUT with food addiction there isn't as much of a Physical addiction more emotional which makes this completely different but by showing you how I stopped smoking will help you to break down your food problem into easier stages.

So how did I stop Smoking?

Food addicts anonymous...Trust me this will help!

I'm not going off on a tangent here it is really helpful to understand addiction before you conquer them and by making comparisons will help with food addiction I promise.

First of all I like many others thought I was strong enough to quit all on my own, this really can make things worse as Nicotine is highly addictive. That's why I have tried to stop so many times but luckily I did not give up and neither will you.

So first of all I knew there was two stages to this addiction;

  1. The Habit - Did you know it takes a month to break a habit and vise versa

  2. The physical/emotional addiction

So to cut a long story short as this is about food not smoking. I used patches for 1 month to break the habit and then after a month I knew the habit was over, then I could concentrate my efforts on the physical addiction.

Similarly help with food addiction can be broken down into similar categories to make it easier.

Which do I battle first? | Do not worry about failure!

"Success is a lousy teacher because it makes smart people think they can't do anything wrong." If you learn from failure it's valuable, if you deny it, it's useless. - Favorite quote.

Does not matter if it's the habit or the emotional addiction you hit first but it is very important you know which way you are going planning and organization are key to success and so is FAILURE (if it occurs) .

Start Here | Help with emotional eating!

Help with food addiction....begins here with managing stress!

I started by breaking the emotional ties I had with food which I believed from the information I gathered that this was the correct first step for me. I felt if I filled the void that let me to emotional eating I could then battle the habit.

Habit - eg. Going out, coming home in an awful mood (which started to happen everyday) and then attacking the fridge.

So what is it that leads to emotional eating? >>>>>>>>>STRESS

Learning to manage stress is the biggest first step you can make, honestly stress is a massive cause to lots of emotional problems people have, from anger to food binging.

Try one of the following;

  1. Exercising - This does not mean buy an expensive gym membership you may never use again or run for an hour a day, all these misconceptions can easily mis-lead people.
  2. Meditation - No I do not expect you to open your own Zen garden and become a teacher and live happily ever after.
  3. Sensory meditation techniques

  4. Simple breathing

  5. Combine all of these and you will truly excel.
