"I was getting worried that it had been a few days since I could "go". I knew it wasn't normal for me.

Suppositories and laxatives are bandaids. They don't get to the source of what is causing her hemorrhoids and she will unknowingly keep doing the things that caused her to get them in the first place. Then go back to the doctor for more suppositories and laxatives.

One of the reasons we get hemorrhoids is straining, or constipation.

A hemorrhoid is basically a varicose vein that erupts when too much pressure is put on it. But how do we end up with constipation?

Tip #1:
Check your diet for:
-refined sugar
-hydrogenated oils
-white flour
-high fructose corn syrup

These lead to constipation and straining. Substitute more fresh fruit, vegetables and water to get moving again.

Tip #2
If you are in the process or are just coming out of a treatment for hemorrhoids, do not do any heavy lifting. This just puts you back at the beginning of the cycle.

Tip #3
Try not to sit for extended periods of time if you can help it. If you sit at a desk, try to get up and walk around every hour or so. A sedentary lifestyle will contribute to your chances of developing hemorrhoids.

Tip #4
Watch out for your use of processed medication or cream. This is basically for the same reason we should carefully monitor our intake of processed food. Also because most of these medications are only temporary fixes, not going to the real cause of the problem.

Tip #5
This is a great habit to get into and will help your digestive system to run more smoothly throughout the day: After your breakfast, eat a piece of fruit. It can be a whole piece or just a portion, even a small amount will set your digestion on a healthier track for the day.

Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is a natural astringent.
To apply: Soak a cotton ball in Witch Hazel and apply to the hemorrhoid. You could try leaving it in place for a few minutes.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You can drink this or apply directly.
To apply: Same as Witch Hazel, soak on cotton ball and apply to hemorrhoid.

Sadly, most people are under the impression that once you develop a hemorrhoid problem you have no choice but to live with it.

And what exactly does that mean anyway?

Well, if you are currently a hemorrhoid sufferer, you are probably using some kind of cream for relief.

Also, in more severe cases you are maybe familiar with the "special cushion" you can sit on (are you brave enough to use it at work?).
