Nutritious Benefits of Hemp Hearts
Normally we get amino acids from carnivorous means (aka meat). Hemp Hearts/seeds are 100% plant based protein and provide us with all 10 amino acids, which make them a complete protein.
Hemp Hearts are also balanced in essential fatty acids. What does this mean? They contain a natural balance of Omega 3's to Omega 6's of 1:3. When there is an imbalance, less-than-good things occur. When balanced, our bodies are given a natural, yummy boost from immune system to brain development. Our cells LOVE balanced essential fatty acids. The GOOD fats.
Hemp Hearts, because of their high protein content (10g per 3 tablespoons), curb your appetite. Taken in the morning with a moderate breakfast, you're likely to not feel those mid-morning hunger pangs associated with a low-protein meal.
Another, less talked about benefit of consuming Hemp Hearts is their effect on one's regularity. Yes, I'm talking bowels. They are an excellent source of fiber as well. If you're feeling constipated, you could likely feel much better within one day of consuming hemp hearts. There is such a thing as too much fiber, too soon, so if you find you're visiting the toilet too much, cut back a bit, or skip a day. It's best to gradually introduce them into your diet for this reason.
Many people have had success in handling the problem of overly loose bowels by eating hemp hearts only with fresh fruit or vegetables in the morning.
There are many, many ways to use Hemp Hearts. Check further down for a list of ways to use yummy, nutritious Hemp Hearts.
The Elimination Factor
Hemp hearts are super good in providing necessary fibre to our bodies and will, in fact, aid in the relief in constipation. When I was working as a registered nurse and using hemp hearts as part of my daily regime, I was so frustrated that such an easy fix to a very common problem in long term care could not be easily implemented. A few tablespoons sprinkled on the morning meal could help keep one regular. Many illnesses can be cleaned up with proper elimination and internal cleansing. A word of caution, though...introducing hemp hearts into your diet should be done slowly. They are THAT effective. Diarrhea/loose bowels following consumption of hemp hearts only means too much, too soon. Give it a rest for a day, allow bowel movements to return to normal and re-introduce hemp hearts into the diet gradually. HEMP HISTORY WEEK - May 17th - 24th

Hemp Hearts and Your Health
Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Digestive and Diabetic Issues...
I am as skeptical as the next person when I hear claims of hemp hearts lowering cholesterol levels, lowering blood pressure and healing digestive and diabetic issues, but people are experiencing great health benefits from consuming just 4 - 5 tablespoons a day with their morning meal. This food is still in its infancy. Although popularity is increasing, not everyone is aware of hemp hearts and the amazing results people are reporting. You'll have to do your own due diligence. If you have health issues, talk to your health provider. If you're on medication for health issues and want to try improve your health through better nutrition (including hemp hearts, I hope!), work with your physician, nurse practitioner or nutritionist. Don't adjust your medications on your own.
If your health care provider is unaware of the health benefits of a nutritional plan containing hemp, spread the word and encourage them to do their own research.

Buffbodz, at 1pm on August 13, 2010 predicts:
Every couple of month a new "super food" comes along. Usually it's forgotten and long gone by the next year. Not so with Hemp Hearts. I first starting using them when a company out of Canada sent my store a sample box with about a pound of hemp hearts and a couple their bars. I used both and had amazing results in the way I feel and that super morning constitution. Being in conic pain for the past 10 years has forced me to use painkillers and we all know what they do to your digestion. That along with consuming as much as 200 gr. of protein per day was causing constant constipation. With Hemp Hearts that's a thing of the past. I use 5 table spoons first thing in the morning, on oatmeal. That fills me up till late afternoon and just a shake or even better a hemp hearts bar and I'm good till dinner. I'm a certified Nutritional Adviser and am incorporating them in the diets I write. Everyone loves them for many reasons. My point is that if you have never tried them, do. You won't be sorry. They're a keeper.
