Why do I Like Them So?
There are three reasons why I love Henry and Mudge books so. First, I think Cynthia Rylant is a great author! Her stories are full of wit and charm.Also, I love how she can write a story about an ordinary boy and his ordinary dog living in an ordinary family in such a way that it's both universal and unique at the same time. It's easy to relate to Henry's family and the everyday things they do, but at the same time, seeing such a happy family is a bit rare these days. It's refreshing to read a book about a mommy and a daddy and their son who have so much fun together! It warms your heart.
Another reason I love Henry and Mudge books is because of the wonderful illustrations by Sucie Stevenson. They are bright and cheerful and make you want to smile just by looking at them!
To date, there are 28 books in the Henry and Mudge series. We've read almost every one of them and are the proud owners of a few as well. Pick up a Henry and Mudge book--I know you'll enjoy them as much as we all do!
