3. A Clove's scent was once believed to be an aphrodisiac and developed a reputation, now backed by some science, for being sexually stimulating.

For over 4,000 years, people chewed whole cloves in order to freshen their breath and it was said that in ancient China if anyone wanted to speak to the Emperor, they were required to have a clove in their mouth.

It is thought that the Clove, and some other spices and herbs, contain eugenol; this aromatic fragrance is thought to enhance sexual feelings.

4.Nutmeg was highly prized by Chinese women as an aphrodisiac.

Nutmeg contains myristicin and similar compounds that are related to mescalin. In larger doses, nutmeg can cause hallucinations, whereas in smaller amounts it is a traditional aphrodisiac.

Researchers dealing with the potency of nutmeg as an aphrodisiac substance found out that at low dosage it is capable of increasing the sexual activity, increasing both libido and potency which might be attributed to its nervous stimulating property, of most males without any conspicuous adverse effects; thus providing a scientific rationale for the traditional use of nutmeg in the management of male sexual disorders.

5.Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus), a species of crocus. Part of saffron's magical property is the "lust", it is said to bring forth.

Medical findings, now show that saffron affects the neurotransmitters in our brain's pleasure centers, so perhaps saffron may indeed be a true aphrodisiac.

It is found to be a soothing relaxant, capable of lowering blood pressure and stimulating respiration. Perhaps, it could also contain properties that stimulate the libido and the erogenous zones.

Some say it's sexual properties are most effective when used by women.

Saffron also contains picrocrocin, which is alleged to have the ability to cause erotic sensations.
