Health Secrets of Herbs
Herbs have been used for centuries as remedies for various ailments and drinking infusions is a great way of gaining the benefits. For most of us, using ready-made loose and teabag blends offers a much more accessible and user-friendly option than having to hunt down and pick the required herbs, and it means they're ready to hand when we need them.
As a bonus, most are caffeine-free and low in calories, and many are available in organic versions too.
Some teas are specially blended together for specific purposes, such as helping sore throats or helping improve a stomach problem.

As well as being great hot, you can also drink herbal teas cold, in the same way as iced tea or coffee.
The medical benefits available are varied, ranging from refreshing pick-me-ups and relaxing soothers, to extra help for digestion, sleep and your immune system.
So pick carefully, or choose a selection in readiness for every health need!

Tones the blood vessels and helps you purge toxins by sweating them out. - Peppermint
Calming, good for the stomach, clears the head, relaxing - and it tastes nice! - Elder
Decongestant, soothing to the mucous membranes; helps to clear out the mucous and catarrh that settles in the lungs of most smokers. - Ground Ivy
Also decongestant and helps clear out mucous and catarrh. - Liquorice
This is an adrenal tonic, so it will perk you up and stop you missing the 'hit' of the nicotine quite so much. It's also demulcent - soothing on the throat - so if you have a smokers cough, this will help.

Detox Herbal Tea How-to
Either mix up equal quantities of the herbs each time, or get a nice, big jar and add equal quantities of the herbs, then mix well.
Use two or three tablespoons of the mix to make this like a loose leaf tea.
Leave it to stand (infuse) for 10 minutes or so.
If you find it too strong or bitter, add some honey, but not sugar. Persist - you'll get used to the taste!
Apart from the skullcap, these are all herbs you can take frequently (camomile and peppermintare both diuretic, so last thing at night may not be the best time).
Try to drink plenty of water because the toxins will flush out of your system much more quickly with lots of water flushing them out!

- I actually wanted to try other types of tea. I usually drink plain green tea and black tea, but I have not tried other types of tea like those made of flowers and citrus. I'll try that one of this days. It can help me relax and enjoy good days and good news such as the issuance of a Hip Replacement Recall.
