Novels for the Searcher
Siddhartha taught me more about Buddhism that many of the texts I read because the principles were were told in the form of a story.
The only other book I read of his was Magister Ludi or The Glass Bead Game. And it was like reading about some futuristic kabala.
Hesse was a great thinker and his novels are defintely not escapist. I recommend them for someone who satns to force his mind in a new direction.
