Hermits, Hermitages & Hermit-ing

The hermit-ing crafter of this lens, who transferred it to me for safekeeping, said:

"Hi! I'm a hermit on purpose and this lens is about hermits and anything related to hermits, hermitages, and hermiting. I am a self-styled, modern-day independent hermit who blends into everyday western society life. I collect information and resources for and about all kinds of hermits because I have long been drawn toward this spirituality and lifestyle.

Solitude can be experienced anywhere, even amid the busiest city street, airport, or crowded event. But some hermits seek physical solitude as well. Hermits come in a wide, diverse variety!

Why practice hermit-ing? Many hermits hear a calling to full-time prayer and meditation and hold the conviction that these ways of re-directing human thoughts, words, and deeds change reality for the better.

Some hermits are part of organized religion and many are independent, some are modern and some traditional. There will be other kinds of hermits besides religious and spiritual ones on this lens too. It is unavoidable and I suppose that is OK by me because it can only add some fun."

I really find this concept interesting. I love my solitude so much that I have often been referred to as a Hermit. Its not that I have a problem with socializing with folks, its just I am one of those people that do mind being a lone either. My true friends understand that about me, often I will "disappear" and come back after a while. Others will just think I a ignoring them or mad at them. Very good information listed here my friend!

Amazon says: "Charlotte Mary Yonge (1823-1901), was an English novelist, known for her huge output. She was devoted to the Church of England, and much influenced by John Keble, a near neighbour and one of the leaders of the Oxford Movement. Her novels reflected the values and concerns of Anglo-Catholicism. She began writing in 1848, and published during her long life about 100 works, chiefly novels. Her first commercial success, The Heir of Redclyffe (1854), provided the funding to enable the schooner Southern Cross to be put into service on behalf of George Selwyn. Similar charitable works were done with the profits from later novels. She was also editor, for nearly forty years, of a magazine for young ladies, the Monthly Packet. Among the best known of her works are Heartsease; or, The Brother's Wife (1854), The Daisy Chain; or, Aspirations (1856), A History of Christian Names (1863, revised 1884), A Book of Golden Deeds (1864), The Dove in the Eagle's Nest (1866), Life of John Coleridge Patteson: Missionary Bishop of the Melanesian Islands (1873) and Hannah More (1888). --This text refers to the Paperback edition."
