Season One Episode 11

This is the very first Heroes episode that doesn't have a 'Monologue' at the very beginning. Nor does it offer narrative at the ending.

Curiously, though the commonplace narrative is missing for this episode, a character we have seen but never heard breaks a silence!

Fallout Episode 11 Heroes First Season

Bits and Quirks

Air Date: Monday December 4 2007

Writer: Joe Pokaski

Director: John Badham

Quirk: Actress Tawny Cypress (Simone Deveaux) is back on camera very briefly in a vision that Peter has of Simone. Technically if Tawny is counted as a cast member for this episode, then this is the first episode whereby every single main Heroes character appears in a single episode.

Quirky Quotes:

"I think I died" (Peter)
"I've died before - It's no big deal" (Claire)

"You know I'm right! I know I'm right! And if that Haitian could speak, he'd tell you I'm right!"

...Eden

"I really need to find that sword"

...Hiro

Fallout Episode 11 - Heavy on the "Nuclear" Theme

Claire, Mr. Bennet, HRG, Matt, Audrey, Jackie's Murder - The Investigation

A lot of talk about the 'explosion' in this episode, so the show is aptly named 'fallout.'

Claire's dad admits that he has, in fact, been aware of her extraordinary abilities all along - before finding out about the videotape showing Claire's abilities documented on film. This creates a whole new friction between Claire and her dad.

HRG conveys that there are others like Sylar 'out there' which adds a chill to the atmosphere, as he does not specify what 'like' means, exactly. Viewers can be sure that HRG is meaning that from this point on Claire is not safe, nor is anyone else.

* Note - my personal thumbsup:
Jack Coleman (Mr. Noah Bennet/HRG) transitions so quickly and perfectly between 2 sides of his CHARACTER, playing loving father, Mr. Bennet, then cold and calculating "HRG" that this feature within the show is quite unsettling! One has to wonder if Mr. Bennet does not have some kind of extraordinary ability, too, that viewers do not yet know about!

Matt Parkman, along with partner, detective Audrey, are investigating the Union Wells High School murder of Claire's peer, Jackie. A suspect is considered and this suspect is Peter Petrelli! Evidence shows that, perhaps, Jackie's killer had accomplices. We'll have to wait and see how this mystery turns out, won't we?

More on Fallout Episode 11

Nathan, Peter, the paintings, Sylar, Jessica shoots D.L.,

When Nathan awakens Peter in jail, he explains that he destroyed 'the painting,' which showed Peter as dead. Peter says he thinks he and the people he has met so far who have special powers are meant to stop the explosion depicted in another of Isaac's paintings.

Peter is unsure that he has what it takes to stop the explosion, and Nathan responds, saying that Peter can't stop it. When Peter looks at Nathan, he sees Sylar asking how can he stop it when he doesn't know anything about power?

Peter awakens in his cell.

In a panic.

Alone.

In front of Cafe BBQ, Jessica shoots D.L. in the shoulder, and D.L. tells Micah to stay down. D.L. tries to make his way beyond the line of fire but is not quick enough. Jessica takes a clear shot straight at D.L.'s head but he avoids serious injury by allowing his power to let the bullet pass straight through him. When Jessica follows up, to retrieve Micah, she walks by the car, where Niki's reflection is in the window. Micah is gone, and Jessica slams the car door angrily, shattering Niki in the window.

At Primatech, Eden lets HRG know that Sylar has slept through the night. HRG goes to Sylar and explains that he has lost a lot of blood but his health has been taken care of as best as possible. He warns that Sylar's abilities will not work in the building, and calls Sylar "Gabriel" to which Sylar immediately reacts to correct him. A rather psychological conversation takes place, each man defining who Sylar was and who he may be now, including references to an 'insignificant watchmaker' in the form of Gabriel Gray from the past. HRG tells that now Sylar has multiple powers and that the infusing and absorption of so many powers in a short time is affecting Sylar's DNA in a significant way, perhaps it is making him insane.

Sylar makes a threat, saying he ought to grab the abilities from Claire next, and to this, Mr. Bennet tells him to stop talking about Claire, and again calls him "Gabriel." Sylar insists loudly, "I AM SYLAR!" and HRG leaves the room, with an amused look on his face, shutting off the lights as he exits.

When HRG discusses the situation on his cell phone with an unseen superior, he insists that there are no options when dealing with someone like Sylar, but the superior personality seems to argue this point.

When Eden asks if they are actually going to let Sylar live, HRG mentions that these are their orders. Eden suggests that she could go use her abilities on Sylar, telling him simply to kill himself, but HRG dismisses the rest of the conversation, leaving Eden very frustrated and worried. She responds, saying that if the Haitian could talk, even HE would know and agree she should go tell Sylar to kill himself and be done with his existence.

Fallout - More Episode Details

Micah and DL, Interrogating Peter, Mohinder, Isaac, Hiro and Ando

Micah and D.L. run through a forest, to get a safe distance away from Jessica. Micah tells D.L. Hawkins that he realizes it wasn't the police who were shooting at D.L. because there was no warning. They approach an empty cabin in the woods but it is locked, so D.L. uses what strength he has left to phase his hand through the door and unlock it so they can enter and be safe. Micah tells his dad that he knows the culprit must be Jessica because his mom, Niki, would never purposely do anything to hurt them. D.L. passes out with Micah nearby.

Peter is put in an interrogation room where Audrey and Matt enter to question him about the events at Union Wells High School in Texas. Peter insists that he didn't kill Jackie but Audrey brings up the fact that Peter's blood was found at the crime scene, yet he has no trace of injury. When Peter sees that there is not enough evidence to charge him, anyway, he is a bit flippant about being released since he's not being charged with a crime. Audrey asks what a nurse from Manhattan is doing at a high school homecoming event in Odessa Texas, hinting that maybe he is some kind of pervert.

When Matt tries to enter Peter's thoughts, both men experience a discomfort like a 'static' or 'feedback loop' and Peter wants to know what Matt is doing to him. A thought of Peter's escapes the distortion and Matt is able to pick out "save the cheerleader." Audrey thinks it is too late and the cheerleader is already dead - after all Jackie Wilcox was a cheerleader and she is dead. Peter hears Audrey's thoughs about the cheerleader being dead, and he asks "Claire's dead?!" When this misunderstanding is finally cleared up, Peter tells the officials that they need to keep Claire safe from Sylar. Claire is the one that Sylar is after and they might be able to catch Sylar so long as Claire is safe.

Though Matt, because of his abilities, is able to somewhat sort out what Peter is meaning in all this talk of Sylar, Claire and a cheerleader, Audrey is very unsatisfied with Peter's explanation. She tells Peter he will be able to go only after she gets some real answers from him.

In Brooklyn, Mohinder returns to his apartment to find a note that Eden left for him, welcoming him back home. Mohinder speaks on the phone to someone viewers can't see, but he mentions 'the list' which viewers are now pretty familiar with. Mohinder says that he already faxed THE LIST yesterday and wonders why hasn't anything been acted upon yet since 6 people have already died off that list! 6 people all killed by Sylar.

Eden visits Issac and finds him sketching. He says he hasn't sketched any 'predictions' yet. Isaac is cleaned up, his addiction having been treated, but he says he doesn't think he is going to create any artistic predictions while clean - he is, however, enjoying being clean and sketching for the fun of it. Eden updates Isaac about his earlier works being enough of a warning sign to have saved Claire so far. Before Eden leaves, she slips a cell phone and security key card to Isaac.

Just like in Isaac's painting, Hiro and Ando stand beneath the "homecoming" banner at Union Wells High School. Hiro is feeling dejected, saying he didn't save Charlie and now, also was not able to get to the cheerleader and save the chearleader in time. He deduces that if he has failed at these things, he will not be able to have what it takes to save the world now, either...they stand under the banner for a while discussing what they think 'save the cheerleader' and 'save the world' can possibly mean.

Soon, Hiro receives a call to his cell phone.

It is Isaac and he wants to meet up with Hiro right away.
