Masi Oka is Hiro Nakamura
Hiro dreams of being a real life Superhero!
(So do we!)
Hiro teleports us into a half-dream-like world right from the start of Heroes season one!
Now who would guess that a Japanese programmer from Tokyo would bend the space-time continuum and lead us to believe that he CAN, indeed, change the future?
It works!
We believe in you, Hiro!

Spacey Hiro
Never Doubt a Hiro! You Never Know What a Hero Can Do!
As Heroes season one begins, we see Hiro Nakamura, a level 3 programmer/office worker who is disappointed in his boring cubicle job. This is because Hiro is almost whacky over Science Fiction, Superhero and Legendary lore!
Hiro is an excitable guy and much too naive (everyone thinks) for his own good. He's idealistic, hyper, jubilant, and frankly - an awesome change from some of the brooding, cocky-type Superheroes from popular shows gone by.
The most prominent idea that Hiro has about Superheroes is that they must always use their powers for good.
Even if they don't want to.
He keeps telling this to his co-worker and best friend, Ando Masahashi, too! Ando doesn't start to take Hiro seriously until well into Season One.
And, for Hiro - Heroes must always use their powers for the good of all mankind - even if they don't even know what their powers are yet.
Hiro SOON FINDS OUT - and ends up teleporting himself to New York! Well, not at first he doesn't, but...
Making a clock stop for one second, one time, doesn't quite convince Ando that Hiro has got an extraordinary power...
Nor does stopping time and making a Japanese subway train 14 seconds late...
Not even when Hiro teleports himself from the main area of a Japanese bar and into the womens' bathroom - after side-kick, Ando, jests about super powers - does Ando realize the scope of Hiro's newly found extraordinary ability.
But then, Hiro teleports himself to New York...
A jubilant Hiro shouts (like a madman) "I DID IT" and "HELLO NEW YORK" at the top of his lungs!
Hiro's excitement quickly turns to anxiety when he walks around New York, passes a newsstand and sees HIMSELF in a publication called "9th Wonders!"
9th Wonders! is a comic book, and when Hiro flips the covers, he is INSIDE, doing exactly what he is doing in real life! Hiro is looking at the book - inside the book the cartoon Hiro is looking at the book.
Hiro flips the pages some more and finds the name of the artist who created the comic book...
Isaac Mendez...
Isaac's book keeps showing Hiro's future, minute by minute, if that is as often as Hiro opens to book to check...
Hiro has got to find out what's going on. He must find Isaac Mendez! (Hiro needs to get back to Japan, actually, because he left Ando without a word about where he was going)
