Peter Petrelli is a New York City nurse tending to terminal patient, Charles Deveaux. Peter doesn't quite see eye-to-eye with his ambitious, political brother, Nathan Petrelli. To add to the strain of their relationship, Peter becomes very vocal with his brother about the dreams he's been having lately.

In the dreams, Peter can fly! Brother, Nathan, doesn't want to hear about it - much less while busy working on his congressional campaign - and Peter gets feeling, right away, like his older brother, Nathan, isn't acting very much like a 'good,' older brother.

Peter doesn't appreciate Nathan passing off his short discussions about the 'flying' dreams - as a psychological condition, so he calls Nathan to watch as he acts upon his impulses, acts upon the activities in his dreams.

Peter freefalls from several stories up, atop a very tall building, and before he hits ground...and before it's all over, he thinks he sees Nathan fly straight upward to break his fall. He feels Nathan's hand grab his.....

...and then

...it's all over.
