Free accounts can make two different characters. Paid accounts can have three.
Creation Hints
Make sure you get every type of item during character creation even if you don't want it. You can sell the items in-game to buy powers and items.
Playing
There are many different quests on which you can embark. Quests will give you gold, experience, and sometimes reputation. This is a game of farming. Quests alone will not get you enough experience and gold. You will need to find a good spot to take out bad guys if you are serious about leveling and getting gold.
Travel
The fastest way to move around the world is to use the "/join" command. Each room in the game has a unique name. In the chat box, you can type "/join room name" to be instantly transported to an area.If a player doesn't know a room name then she can use the "Map" app in HALdroid. Simply click the HALdroid icon in the bottom-right corner and pick the map.
Most areas are joined together so a player can walk from one place to another.
Locations
- Liberty Square: /join liberty. Lobby, first area you see when you log in. Has Professor's Smash's Power Academy where you can buy powers.
- West MainStreet: /join mainstreetwest. Has the police station. A great place to farm Destroyers for the Danger Claw drop.
- East MainStreet: /join mainstreeteast. To the left of them will be Beleen's Beauty Boutique, a character customization store. To the right of them is TITANium Threads, a clothing store. Next door to TITANium Threads is Boom-ingdales, a weapon store.
- Aurora Park: /join park. To the left is where Good heroes go to fight, to the right are where Villains go.

Farming Hints
Experience, Reputation, and Fame
There are several different places to farm depending on what you want.
Reputation: Use the HALdroid to help you pick reputation quests.
Fame: HeroSmash's primary money is "fame." The best way to get fame is to farm the Destroyers at West MainStreet for the Danger Claw. Sell the Danger Claw immediately because you can have only one at a time.
Experience: The best place to farm experience depends on your level. Low-level characters should farm the Alley (/join alley) for experience and the Radiating Hands powers. Medium players should farm the Subway (/join subway) and higher level members should farm Aquatia (/join ruins) for experience.

Power Hints
When picking a power don't get hung up on the total damage. Players who run out of energy can't use powers so having a low-cost power is a great idea. Also, powers that do Damage over Time (DoT) tend to do the best overall damage. Include support-type powers with your skills, like healing and energy replenishment.
Best Power in the Game: "Best" can mean several different things. It could mean most damaging, quickest damaging, best buff or debuff, etc. To find the right power take a look at the HeroSmash Best Powers lens.
Two Powers you Have to Have: At level five, players can get Focus and Molecular Regeneration. These two powers are a must for players who want to continuously smash. Members can get Purifying Flames and Uncanny Focus which are better.
Coolest Power in the Game: Right now, the lightning effects of Lightning Strike and Thunderous Rage are the most awesome in the game. When used, a bolt of lightning strikes down from the sky and the screen flashes with the intensity of the attack.

Powers
HeroSmash has open skills. That means you can pick and choose which skills you want for a truly customized character. As you level up, more skills and more powerful skills become available.Skills can be bought or found as a drop from a monster. Buy them at Professor Smash's Power Academy (click the door under the sign) in Liberty Square from NPC's inside the academy and from other NPC's scattered around the game.
Reputation and Factions
Some quests will award reputation. Reputation has no value in itself but unlocks special items and quests. The higher the rep, the higher the rewards. To view your current reputation, click your face in the upper left corner and select "Reputation."Since Good and Evil are opposing factions earning reputation in one will lower the other. When Good reputation is earned it lowers Evil reputation. When Evil is earned it lowers Good reputation.
The only way to earn Shadow reputation is by completing the challenges of Super Death.
Current factions are Good, Evil, and Shadow.
