History of the Famous Hershey's Kisses

~Favorite Chocolate Treat Since 1907

Milton Hershey was the creator of Hershey's Chocolate and Hershey's Kisses. Hershey's Kisses were introduced in 1907 and originally wrapped by hand.

In 1921, automated wrapping began with the famous strip of "KISSES" paper. This thin strip of paper or plume is still used to inform consumers that they are getting the genuine Hershey's "Kisses" product. During World War II, Hershey's Kisses ceased production from 1942-49 due to a ration of raw materials that were used to make the aluminum foil wrappers.

Original Hershey's KISSES were made of milk chocolate, my favorite flavor. Today, there are 12 different flavors of Hershey's KISSES in the United States and Canada.

These flavors include:

* Milk Chocolate with almond
* Filled with Caramel
* HUGS (Milk Chocolate and white chocolate)
* Special Dark (Dark Chocolate)
* Pink Kisses (Milk Chocolate with Pink Wrappers in support of Breast Cancer Awareness)
* Cherry Cordial (Limited Edition)
* Filled with Peanut Butter
* Truffle
* Milk Chocolate with macadamia nuts (only in Hawaii)
* Crunchy Cookie (milk chocolate with oreo-like cookie bits)
* Candy Cane (peppermint flavoured white chocolate with red nonpareils)

International varieties of Hershey's KISSES may be found in Asia and Europe. Limited Varieties are produced seasonally and for special occasions. Colored foil wrappers and special occasion plumes are available during the holiday seasons. Enjoy your favorite flavor of this popular chocolate treat!

Chewy Peanut Butter Blossoms

Fun for Kids & Beginners

Serves: Makes 48 Cookies
Prep Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

48 HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates (approx)
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
3/4 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
2 cups all-purpose biscuit baking mix
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup sugar (approx)

Instructions

1) Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees.
2) Remove Wrappers from Hershey's Chocolate Kisses (DO NOT USE ALMOND KISSES).
3) Pour can of sweetened condensed milk into a large bowl and add creamy peanut butter.
4) Beat milk and peanut butter until smooth.
5) Add biscuit mix and vanilla and blend well.
6) Roll into 1inch balls and sugar.
7) Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
8) Bake 6-8 minutes or until golden brown.
9) Remove cookie sheet from oven and place one Hershey's Kiss on each ball.
10) Place cookies on a wire rack to cool.
11) Store in an airtight container. Makes approx. 48 cookies.
